MIERS FOUND CHRIST, TURNED REPUBLICAN

By 1979, Harriet Miers, then in her mid-30s, had accomplished what some people take a lifetime to achieve. She was a partner at Locke Purnell Boren Laney & Neely, one of the most prestigious law firms in the South.

But she still felt something was missing in her life.

The NEW YORK TIMES is set to splash the "something" on Page Ones on Wednesday, newsroom sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

It was after a series of long discussions with Nathan Hecht, a junior colleague and sweetheart, that led her to a decision that many of the people around her say changed Miers life.

"She decided that she wanted faith to be a bigger part of her life," Hecht said. "One evening she called me to her office and said she was ready to make a commitment," to accept Jesus Christ as her savior and be born again, Hecht said. Miers became an evangelical Christian and began identifying more with the Republican Party than with the Democrats who had long held sway over Texas politics. Developing...

Trust GW is all we really need to do.

I support the president, but really.... this just sounds creepy and cultish.

I'm willing to give Miers the benefit of the doubt, but I believe Rush today had some excellent commentary on this nomination, in terms of the bad lesson it teaches "openly" conservative judges about how their strong stance is viewed by the GOP.

OK, never mind, sorry to actually present evidence...

You want to hate the woman, you go right ahead. After all, you have a constitutional right to be as big a f***ing moron as you want.

"Gee. What a surprise. Could it be that Bush actually knows this woman better than Reid, Pelosi and Bill Kristol?"

And about a thousand whining crybabies here at FR???

How has she ruled in the past?

How did Rehnquist rule before he was appointed as a justice?

Oh, that's right, he never did.

No matter what I can't get past someone donating to Algore.

Gore was a pro-life conservative Democrat when she did that.

If you're serious, that's petty.

She will get plenty of opportunities to defend the Constitution in the coming weeks.

She already said that we should adhere to the Founders Intentions.

Indeed, He placed Saddam in power.

But I'm talking about American politics in general.

"..no Brown"

How do you know if you don't even try?

Which republicans are going to go on national tv badmouthing a black woman, daughter of a sharecropper, who is 50 times more qualified than they are?

And what happens if she gets denied?

Well, the president just goes back and nominates someone else. It's not "be approved the first time or you can't nominate another".

Plus, the fight, and if there was a denial, would have motivated the base for the 2006 elections.

Instead of getting a 100% sure conservative bet nominated, we get an unknown, "trust us on this" nominee - one recommended by the Harry Reid!

This is not how GWB said he would stock the supreme court if elected. He promised more judges like thomas and scalia, not the personal recommendations of the senate democratic leader.

My guess is Jesus doesn't care much for our politics.

My guess is He cares about everything we do.

you must remember the ny times, which considers the holy trinity; dowd, krugman, and friedman, considers anybody that's christian public enemy number one and more dangerous than the taliban and zarqawi combined.

"Gore was a pro-life conservative Democrat when she did that."

He was also pro-SDI, believe it or not (he contributed to a National Defense University Press book on the subject).

"I would have thought that someone who has dedicated their life to preserving the original intent of the constitution is precisely what we need on the supreme court, but oh well."

I think we can do both.
