Boortz: THE REPUBLICANS NEED A GRAND GESTURE [GOP deserves to lose control of Congress]
Boortz ^ | October 4, 2005 | Boortz

Posted on 10/04/2005 2:56:27 PM PDT by freedomdefender

I'm not softening my position a bit, in spite of the emails. I'm sorry, but the Republicans richly deserve to lose control over the House and the Senate in 2006. There is no excuse whatsoever for their profligate spending, and no excuse for Tom Delay's absurd claim that there is no fat in the federal budget. Every American should be disgusted at this spending spectacle.

Montana has agreed to send money back for all "earmarks." Earmarks, by the way, are Washingtonese for "pork." Why can't the rest of the states follow through? Whether we like it or not, we're going to be spending over 100 billion on hurricane relief. Do we really need to be spending $50 million for an indoor rain forest in Iowa, or $250 million for a bridge to nowhere in Alaska?

Yes, I know --- for every Republican that loses there's another Democrat in congress. That's not a good thing. But the Republicans show no sign of getting right with the budget and returning to their limited government roots. It's time for shock therapy. We'll just have to endure a few years of Democratic Socialists in government in order to purge the system.

I hate to admit it but I agree 100%. The GOP has lost touch with their base. At least the ones who are no idealogues.

Ok, as long as it's not to Democrats.

If Republicans are honest with themselves, then there is hope things will turn around.

But as far as I can tell, they're nothing more than socially conservative democrats.

It's funny to listen to them yell "RINO" all the time, but most of them deserve that label as much as anyone.

Let's see. It would be better, according to the Moveon.org "Conservatives" like Bootz to elect a Democrat Controlled Govt that would give Conservatives 100% of what they loath then to hold on to a Govt that gives Conservatives 70% of what they want and LISTENS to Conservatives on the other 30%.

Yeah, that is REAL smart politics. No wonder no one takes this guy seriously.

I agree with you. Rush was saying today that we elect conservatives and then they get to Washington and want to be liked by the press and the left so they lose their backbone and become appeasers....not an exact quote but hopefully you get the idea

It happens to the best of us.

I must say, I don't miss hearing Boortz on the radio. The station I occasionally heard him on took him off, at least during the time I'm able to listen. He's okay most of the time but he loves the fudge packers and that's enough right there to turn me right off from listening to him. And he's no friend of anyone with any faith either. Which makes him a blowhard loose cannon in my book.

Ah, the voice of arrogance. Republicans can just do no wrong, can they?

I voted straight Republican in the last 3 elections. I have a Ronald Reagan calendar hanging on my wall and would have voted for him, too, if I had been old enough.

But I'll tell you this. If the Republicans don't open their eyes, they're in for a big surprise the next couple of elections. This is no longer the party of Reagan.

I assumed they were castrated before they were allowed to enter the senate.

Ask the Mods to delete, or at least lock down this thread. FR hardly needs two of these stupid threads running. Boortz is a moron and has the political savvy of a rock.

There is an alternative to the 'entrenched political class' ... an alternative to the 'career bureaucrats' ... it's the 'Constitution party' which is the only conservative party in the country. Take a look at their web site. I vote for their ticket every time they put up a candidate. IMOP both Republicans and Democrats are nothing more than prostitutes whose votes are for sale to the highest bidder.

You would be dead wrong in your assessment of how pissed off many conservatives are with the President. You tell me how to get rid of the pork pimps that we elected. Once their in you can never get rid of them. I guess our spenders are better than their spenders.
Holding on to government is not the end game it is to reduce the size of this mess.

No, it's more Conservative, that it was when Reagan was president.

The Country as a whole may be more Conservative now but G.W.B. is a Republican who likes but dose not necessarily Follow Conservative Ideologies on Social Issues
