"George Bush is a conservative."

This statement and your "bushie" thread are both pretty funny.

Face it, GWB is an occasional conservative. Other times, he's just awful. If Clinton was doing some of the same things GWB is, you and the rest of those who apologize for almost every action would be raising hell.

Instead, you're attacking the people who want the republican party to stand for something besides just being "not democrats".

Could you explain to us HOW a President cuts spending

Have you already forgot what a veto does?

Thank you. I've always liked your post as well.

I will agree that, especially on fiscal issues Bush does not walk the walk. He wants to spend too much on too much.

The issue of the day of course is the Miers appointment. It seems an odd stretch of logic that after all the conservatives he has appointed to the bench that people should suddenly think he is trying to slip in a liberal to the highest court in the land.

I trust him more than that.

Charles Pickering, Jeffrey Sutton, Terrence Boyle, Carolyn Kuhl, Miguel Estrada, Timothy Tymkovich, Priscilla Owen, Jay Bybee and David McKeague....

These are just some of the conservative court appointments/nominations made by Bush.

All of which are more qualified than Bush's latest SUPREME Court pick. I notice you put neither John Roberts, nor Miers, in that list. Freudian slip?

And why does Chuck the Schmuck like Miers?

Why did Harry Reid recommend her to Our Lord and Savior?

Why did W. listen to him?

Did he not promise judges in the mold of Scalia and Thomas?

Would you compare Roberts and Miers to Scalia and Thomas?

Can anyone PLEASE tell me why Jesus W. Bush sent Roberts straight to Supreme Court JUSTICE, snubbing a far superior justice in Antonin Scalia.

When I get up tomorrow, I expect at least one of you out there to have helped me answer at least one of these questions .

Prove it.

To call Bush not a conservative is over-reacting just a bit. We've got John McCain and Rudi waiting in the wings who would make George W. Bush look more conservative than Reagan.

Reagan was a Democrat (how many times have I read that today?); Phil Graham was a Democrat. Just because someone once was blind and now can see doesn't disqualify them from being conservative. In fact, I'd rather see someone who intellectually arrived at conservatism after tasting some of the evil of the other side.

Many of the doomsayers here are starting to sound suspiciously like Ted Kennedy when Souter was nominated and he called Souter an "extreme conservative out of the mainstream of America". (well he was accurate on the last part of that)

Let's give this a chance. I keep saying over and over again that in a perfect world political temperment should have no bearing on the Supreme Court, but rather a strict holding to the Constitution is the role of the Court. Conservatives win big time in the forum of public opinion and it's Congress who writes laws that defend and protect conservative idiology. It IS NOT the Court's role to advance any time of political agenda or temperment, conservative, liberal, communist or anything else. It's up to the Supreme Court to leave the legistlative branch the hell alone, unless there is something STRICTLY and INDISPUTABLY contrary to the constitution (and not hidden between the lines). That's where I see Roberts and Miers fitting in just fine. And even though we're not in a perfect world, it is the most perfect form of government in the world today and we should rely on it.

I am a paleo-conservative, to the right of Ghengis Kahn. I refuse to support anything or any institution that is pro-abortion. I do not own a gun or wish to have one, but I support the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. I have been married almost 32 years. We have a son who is married. He has a wonderful wife and two delightful daughters. Our two daughters both died young from a neurological degenerative disorder. I publish religious books and work as a technical writer and editor. I also serve an independent Lutheran congregation as their pastor.

******

Pastor and Mrs. Jackson have been married 31 years.
Their son Martin is married to Tammy Frystak and they
have two granddaughters: Josie and Danielle.

Pastor Jackson served congregations in the Lutheran
Church in America, the Wisconsin Synod, and the Church
of the Lutheran Confession before becoming
independent. He began Bethany Lutheran Church in New
Ulm, Minnesota with like-minded people who wished to
worship without the interference and false doctrine of
synod officials.

Pastor Jackson studied at Yale University and the
University of Notre Dame. He has published articles in 30
periodicals and has four books in print:

Liberalism: Its Cause and Cure

Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant

Angel Joy

The Wormhaving Gardening Book

Thy Strong Word How We Began

Apparently PASTOR Jackson is not terribly proud of that portion of his title.

I am simply making the observation that for in his article he dropped the title Pastor. I see no point in that.

No, the thing is he isn't standing up and fighting. This is what reagan did, and why he was such a good president. I believe it is Rush who calls them 'teaching moments'.

Instead of trying to pass off a stealth candidate, he should put up a known conservative / constitutionalist judge, who would do two things: 1) Rally the base and 2) make the democrats act like little children, which would give the rest of thecountry the opportunity to see them in action, and see what a 'strict constructionist' stands for.

Instead, we get the frank stallone of supreme court nominees.

And we're supposed to "just trust him".

Why? Has he earned my trust by spending like teddy kennedy?

Has her earned my trust be leaving our borders open, ignoring illegal immigration, and dropping fines for employers who hire illegals to an almost non-existent level?

And doing this why he's supposed to be fighting a war on terror and protecting the country?

Trust isn't given, it's earned. So far, trusting GWB is a 50-50 proposition. Sometimes you might get lucky, other times you're going to get burned.

Sir...if you want to call My President nasty names then please feel free to go to hell.

Oh, boo hoo! Are you serious? This is a joke, right? Are you really that upset? I'll get mommy to buy you an ice cream cone, then. My apologies. Seriously.

He is my President too. I voted for him twice, unfortunately. But unlike you, I have a breaking point. Unlike you, I realize he is a man, and not the Son of God. Unlike you, I realize he makes mistakes. And this is a big mistake indicative of the entire 5 or so years The Grand Exalted 'W' has been in power. Unlike many of you, I quickly catch on when the American people are getting screwed.

For me, it started with "Islam is a Peaceful Religion", and continues to this day with the selection of Harriett Miers, whose name is more likely to conjure up mental images of a librarian instead of a Supreme Court justice. Nice way of getting out of answering a question.
