You make some good points, but there are a few I would at least comment on -

" 5 years ago it was illegal to arm commercial pilots. Today it is not."

How many are actually armed? I have read article after article stating that DOT was simply refusing to train or approve them.

3 years ago Saddam Hussein was in power. Today he's in jail."

This has nothing to do with freedom in the US. The tri-ethnic polyglot called Iraq can probably not be held together without a very strong central government, IMHO.

"Conservatism has only "lost ground?!" Does Farah earn so little that he hasn't noticed our 3 income tax cuts, the repeal of the Estate Tax, the cut of the dividend double-tax, and the energy credit tax cut?!"

Bush does get half credit on this one. Unfortunately , he gets a failing grade on the DEFICIT subject matter, as the idea is the cut spending AND taxes, not increase spending while cutting taxes. Republicans are the big spending party, apparently. Personally, as far as taxes and spending go, I liked political gridlock MUCH better.

TSA spokeswoman Amy Von Walter said her office could not release exact numbers of applicants or trainees because of security considerations, "but I can tell you that thousands of pilots have applied for the program. Thousands of pilots have already been trained. ... The agency expects to train every pilot who has applied for the program by Oct. 1, the beginning of the next budget year, she said."

4,500 pilots armed by March 2005

Who cares about the freekin DEFICIT ?

The % of GDP for the DEFICIT is less then under Reagan so what about 9/11 and the Iraq war.

What, because we have a DEFICIT smaller then under Reagan we need to FREEK out ?

Get a grip man and get real.

It's a fact of life and not the end of the world that we have a DEFICIT but it also is a fact that if you add the increases in defense spending it is more then the DEFICIT.

So what are you saying stop funding the military?

Man you Sunday Morning TV show armchair sheep really piss me off sometimes!
