Ann Coulter: Miers a 'Complete Mediocrity'
Newsmax ^ | Monday, Oct. 3, 2005

Posted on 10/03/2005 3:07:23 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Count Ann Coulter among the conservatives who are unhappy with President Bush’s nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

Asked by NewsMax.com if she considers Miers to be what she had called John Roberts after his nomination - a "tabula rasa” - Coulter, who’s now out with the paperback edition of her best-seller "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must),” said:

"No. She’s something new: a complete mediocrity.”

Ouch.

Rehnquist was the son of a paper salesman, and the grandson of Swedish immigrants. He went to college on the GI Bill. He was an altogether admirable man.

I'm trying not to put this lady down. She is obviously a good corporate lawyer who came, like Rehnquist, from a poor background. But she's not been on a constitutional law track. If I have a brain tumor, I'll go to a neurosurgeon, not a urologist, even a very good urologist.

Just like my mom, she goes to church all the time and thinks she is a Christian, yet she believes there are many roads to heaven.

Unfortunately, so does Billy Graham.

No, the sky seems fine. I'd say it's a political party that's failing.

Yeah noob. In your dreams!

Your story, diddly squat. I'm so sorry, but right now I'm really not concerned about your arguments, or lack thereof. Maybe another time, another place. In the meantime, stay focused on the issue at hand. I know you think you can push in another little issue, but it just ain't workin' for ya, darlin.

I know, Chena. Don't worry... I think it's more often the tone of the poster that makes it noticeable.

Not you at all.

You've spent more posts dodging the issue than it would have taken to point out anything that I posted which was wrong (if there was any.) And the irony is that it was originally more of a rhetorical post.

This is not jumping the gun. Movement conservatives in the legal world know who would and would not make a good SCOTUS justice. Just ask your friendly local member of the Federalist Society. So, it's not necessarily Ms. Miers that we're down on, it's just the fact that Bush skipped over at least two or three dozen known conservatives with stellar credentials to pick her.

I bet (no, I know) you could have polled a hundred local conservative lawyers wherever you live and not heard a single one of them recommend Ms. Miers. You know this and President Bush knows this, and neither one of you seem to care very much about it. President Bush's lack of interest in qualifications, judicial experience, or the opinions of the conservative legal community is foolish in the extreme.

Oh my! A whole political party is failing!!! Oh woe is me!!!/ sarc

Good strategy on your part too.

I called you on your Chicken Little statements, and the fact that you are quite new here, and you quote a "Bushism" that the Left loves.

Sorry, not buying your sky is falling theories.

Sorry again, but I gave up "dodgeball" when I was a child. You don't seem to understand that I do not believe in mixing apples and oranges. I realize you are trying to make a point, but like I said, take one issue at a time. Discussions just work better that way.

Maybe now all the guys around here (and they are ALL guys) who think AC is such a great pundit will finally realize she's just a bimbo with some snappy patter.

I wasn't aware that bimbos were capable of snappy patter.

Doesn't it make you wonder if perhaps our President knows more than he's letting on? Thank you for your thoughtful post. I do understand where you are coming from, I really do. However, that doesn't mean I'm going to assume anything about Ms. Miers at this early juncture.

Thank you for the definition of "deciduous". I was going to say that I was an "old oak" but that just rubbed me wrong somehow. Well, leaf it to you, itsahoot, to show that my leaves are falling and my "rings" are growing. teehee ;)

No problem. Hope you're enjoying the open borders, and big spending party. I called you on your Chicken Little statements, and the fact that you are quite new here, and you quote a "Bushism" that the Left loves.

Chicken little? Bushism? What exactly are you referring to? What code is this?

Watch out now. Like Coulter, I could be a disguied spy, out to undermine this whole thing. HAHAHAHHAHAHAH. Careful now....I could be a mole sent from CHAOS!
