© 2005 WorldNetDaily.com Local and federal agents were carting away what was described as a huge cache of explosives from the apartment of the 21-year-old student who blew himself up outside the stadium where 84,000 watched a Sooners football game.
Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., died in the explosion, according to FBI officials.
Investigators believe Hinrichs detonated a bomb about 8 p.m. Saturday, just 100 yards away from the packed football stadium.
Police were overheard telling residents it would take "several trips and could take up to 24 hours" to remove it all, according to the Daily Oklahoman.
A canister trailer used for detonating or transporting potentially explosive material was being used to haul items away.
Officials said Hinrichs' motive for blowing himself up Saturday near the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium during the second quarter of OU's game against Kansas State remains under investigation.
OU President David Boren said Hinrichs was a student "who had very, serious personal problems that led to this tragic death."
Because of what happened, Boren said, the FBI had taken over the investigation.
Boren said the student had explosives strapped to his body.
Investigators would not say whether they believe Hinrichs intended to go inside the stadium before the detonation happened.
I heard channel 9 say there was a Pakistani roommate, and Channel 5 said the same--these on the 5 o'clock news. By 10 pm, there was mention of a roommate, but no mention of who he was. On all of the broadcasts that I saw, they said the roommate (whether mentioning his nationality or not) could not be found.
PKM, is there any way you can sleuth out any info on the roommate? Since this was only on a news broadcast, and NOT in the written news section, I don't blame people if they are skeptical of what I heard. (I know what I heard, but I understand.)
Also, there are news videos on www.channeloklahoma.com that for some reason won't play on my computer. If someone else wants to try it, maybe there's something in those.
Interesting that MSM can fixate on a blonde teenager missing in Aruba but disregard some thing like this.
Why isn't Greta VanS down in OK?
My neighbor heard the same thing last night on the early news -- he was talking about it this morning. I will see if I can find anything.
The padlocks were creepy. Maybe I don't know enough about security, but that DOES seem like a bad plan.
Do you also find it interesting that the father stated, right off the bat, that this act wasn't "politically motivated"? Do all grieving parents rush in to assure people that their children's suicides weren't "politically motivated"?
I'm guessing the dad knew something of his son's new "religion" and knows it will come out.

Hinrichs roommate, whom Hinrichs father said he barely spoke with, also moved back into the apartment at this time.
WHEW! I was starting to wonder if I'd been hearing things! LOL!
They played the 10 p.m. news from Sunday and last night. Nothing on either of them.
I just listened to a news interview with his Father and he said like all little boys, he loved to blow things up. That shocked me for his Father to say that. They had a family picture with him and his beard.
Rats. Channel 4's videos played for me, but like the ones you saw, they were from Sunday night. Not much help.
What religion are you referring to? Was the young man a Southern Baptist?
My neighbor heard the same thing about the Paki roommate along with two more people I just called if that is confirmation. By the 10 o'clock news that detail was missing completely.
Have talked to two more people and they heard the same thing about the Pakistani roommate on the early news.
Hardly.
Those interviews with his Dad are very strange. I had the same feeling about his statement on politically motivated. I don't know if I can find it but I swear I heard in an interview that "if" he had leanings it was toward the anti-war side and remember thinking that was strange as well. Now hearing that "all" little boys like to blow things up since his son did, gives me the creeps even more.
