Getting canned when you least expect is all part of the radio biz. Believe me, I know.
I'm sorry for her, but no whining allowed aloud. That's just the business. If she's as good as she says she is, she'll get another gig in no time.

True....but something tells me we haven't heard the last of MM.

ABC has at least left WABC radio alone.

Isn't she still married to the owner/manager of KSFO?

Thanks for posting this. Her absence was a mystery, and I'm glad she's gone on record. (FYI, I don't receive San Francisco radio, so I wasn't a regular listener.)

" But, for some reason, the negotiations hit a brick wall and I was asked to accept a number of bizarre compromises." Shed have to explain that before Id consider this anything but SOP in Radio. When I worked in the area 8 years ago, KSFO was the most ultra conservative station imaginable.

KSFO's signal has become so weak here in the Monterey Bay area that I can barely listen to the morning show anymore. Without MM there's now no reason to even suffer through the weak signal. Firing her is insane; she and Lee were the main reason for the station's success. I predict that the station will fade back into their previous obscurity.
Farewell KSFO. I am no longer a listener.

Your contract was up, they did not want you back, if you are talented, get another job; don't look back, something better is ahead.

Its all part of the new democrat plan. If they can't win in the debate in the arena of ideas, they will simply silence the other side or make the other side illegal. Regain the MSM monopoly and power by any means, even if those means aren't democratic. But hey, to the dems its "fyuck the voters, if they were too stupid to vote for us, we will just make them irrelevant."
To: yoe
Melanie was the only reason I would tune in to KSFO for the morning commute. Now it will be the guys on 910.
To: yoe
Send her out here to Kansas City to replace that horrid Darla Jay on 980, leading into Rush.
I've resorted to listening to Mancow (I can't get 710 and Tony Snow in my office for some reason).

What a brilliant bunch of business people running KSFO.First they lose Savage to an upstart KNEW and become also also rans in 17-20th place in evening drive time.
Now these geniuses kill the second place drive time morning show in the nation's third biggest market (up against a 50,000 watt regional news station).
They can now call themselves KRSH, because Rush is all they gots left. Right?

I live in the Bay Area and can get a scratchy KSFO signal. Since the frequency is so low, 560 KHz, the FCC will only allow them 10KW of signal, where as KMJ out of Fresno on 580 KHz is a full 50KW blow torch.
Barbara Simpson and some guy were on this morning on The Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Show were so boring I fell asleep trying to listen. Even Officer Vic was not on this morning.
One other fact that I havent seen mentioned it that Melanie was the person that started the Recall Gray Davis campaign. When she sets her mind on an action, she can exert a lot of pressure.
Good luck Melanie Morgan and I will be looking for you on the radio and maybe with more that a piddly 10KW of power.

I personally think she's pulling a PR scam. I think her contract was up, but she walked out playing the martyr to generate a commotion and put pressure on the station.
Well see, I guess.

But, for some reason, the negotiations hit a brick wall and I was asked to accept a number of bizarre compromises. Of course, she could settle the whole issue of whether or not her being terminated was the result of ABC being liberals or her being a not-so-good talk radio host by telling us what these compromises were. The fact that she is not suggests that she was not fired for political reasons.
