I am not surprised. When we went to vote in 2000 we thought we were getting a Ronald Reagan Conservative. In 2004, we were merely content to keep a Kennedy liberal out of the White House. Now it seems to be confirmed:
When we elected and re-elected G.W. Bush, we got a younger version of his father.
Conservatism is officially dead in Washington DC.

If that's what you thought, you weren't paying attention.

People forgot that the Bush family is not Texan, they are Kennebunkport, MA liberals who sniff the political winds.

Wrong. We got Al Gore. What would FReepers be saying right now if Gore had been elected and done all of this:
1.New law providing drugs for all seniors.
2.More farm pork.
3.Education bill drafted by Kennedy.
4.200 Billion of our money promised for Katrina plus $2000 debit cards for all.
5.Patriot Act (You may feel it's okay in application right now, but what if it had been Al Gore's brainchild?).
6.Supreme Court nominees.
7.Not securing our borders even after 9-11.
8.Not enforcing our immigration laws even after 9-11.
If Bush were a democrat, FReepers would be livid.

When we went to vote in 2000 we thought we were getting a Ronald Reagan Conservative. Not at all. Bush was running as a socialist (Medicare prescription drug plan, etc.), just like Al Gore. I voted for him ONLY because I didn't want Gore & Kerry picking SCOTUS judges. Maybe I shouldn't have bothered.

Conservatism is officially dead in Washington DC.It's always been "every man for himself". Now its official. The RATS and the PUBBIES are two sides of the same coin. I've always voted Republican (with one exception), now I'm not sure about any of them.

"When we went to vote in 2000 we thought we were getting a Ronald Reagan Conservative"I NEVER thought the above. The term "compassionate conservative" was a BIG tip off as well as the push for government faith based initiatives.

Didn't RR put Sandra D. O'Connor in? She wasn't too conservative, wasn't she? Also, GHWB put in Clarence Thomas, didn't he? And as I recall, he was pretty conservative, wasn't he? So there!
GWB has put in a number of conservatives in as judges, only recently getting J.Roberts in there. So, don't you think he's had a generally good record getting conservatives in for judges? I do! Don't you remember he did say he would get judges who rule according to the constitution? And yes, he did say he would get conservatives in there, and he has, hasn't he?
