Heck, she's female. She gets an extra ten years on a guy!

;)

Shumer called her "the swing" nominee. I thought justices weren't political. Swing is either a political term or a type of music that I am fond of.

Here are Harriet Miers' donations. Are these law firms pro-death and pro-abort? Do they represent land developers?

http://www.newsmeat.com/washington_political_donations/Harriet_Miers.php

I guess we could look up these Texas law firms in Martindale-Hubbell on line and see what their specialties are.

dirtboy.

No law firm experience.
No judicial experience.
No court experience.
No law degree.
No experience as a trial and appellate attorney.

But I'm supposed to listen to him.

ROFLMAO.

"I havent read all the posts, Im taking a break from homework, so i dont know if this has been addressed or not: Suppose W knows he is going to get another nomination (Ginsburg? Stevens?) and is just "throwing a bone" to the left here?"

Then he's a complete idiot. Even if he nominated Ruth Ginsburg's clone, the RATS would fight him to the death if he followed up with a real conservative. They have no "well, you gave us one, so we'll give you one" sense... none at all. To them it's: "We're going to destroy you until we win, and then next time we're going to destroy you until we win AGAIN."

LOL Leahy wasn't talking about her law firm administrator experience, or her experience with her state bar. I was.

And you both are jumping to conclusions with insufficient information.

Of course, there' that thing about donating money to Clinton to defeat GWB's diddy.

And anyone with an understanding of the political history of the South understands that issue ain't what you make it out to be. Zell Miller gave Bill Clintons' keynote address in 1992. And George W. Bush's keynote address in 2004. There were lots of conservative southerners who supported Clinton in 1992 because he stated conservative Dem positions, and who left the party because Clinton's talk didn't match his subsequent actions.

I have info on the Texas lotto goings on. I'm not posting it to avoid personal attacks.

Ummmm ... would have made more sense to not say anything at all then.

Not necessarily. Limited info worked fairly well with Roberts.
Mainly because the "limited" info almost unanimously pointed in a conservative direction, something the even-more-limited info on Miers doesn't do. Indeed, the last Justice that had this particular pattern of contradictory limited info was David Souter.
I am not a "Bush-bot" and if this pick ends up being a closest leftie I'll be the first to complain. I just think it's wise to hold your fire until you are sure you are shooting at the enemy.
Unfortunately, by the time we would have a better idea of whether Miers is "the enemy", she'll have written her first opinion as a there-for-life SCOTUS Justice. There's a saying that's very apt here; "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

Federalist Society did? I did not think they endorsed specific canidates. ACLJ recommendation helps, but quite frankly is a drop in the bucket compared to everything else that is out there.

Yeah, and I'm making a lot more sense than you are, slimer.

So what does that say about YOU?

The negative proves less than the positive would, in this case.

How did Clarence Thomas manage to get approved by a Democrat controlled Senate after the bloodbath he was put through. If anyone was a slamdunk to get turned down, it's Thomas.

Because the Dems overstepped with Bork and Bush wasn't a lame duck like Reagan was with Bork.

They'll say she's an unqualified crony who never married

You're hung up on the "never married" thing. Most people don't care. Your little clique might, but most others don't.

She, per Frum, will crack under the pressure.

How about a link? If it's from NRO, he didn't say that.

Yes, but did she judge horses like Mike Brown? That would count for something.

...it is very normal for a company doing business to donate to both republicans and democrats in the same election.

In the name of the company. The figures that have been shown here are individual contributions, not company contributions.

What Dirtboy said, plus John Danforth ... a RINO in an awful lot of ways ... ran interference and twisted arms for Thomas in the Senate. I still remember the powerful, impassioned pro-Thomas speech he gave during the debate.
