Received the E-mail below twice (so far): Once from a dear friend and once from a business associate. Sounds like a pretty good idea and could not find where it has been posted yet. So, here you are:
RED FRIDAYS
Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority". We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers.
We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops.
Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that..
Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something red. By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a home-coming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.
The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers.
Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear something red every Friday.
I sent this out to everyone on my email list. Will you?
WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED-WEAR RED! MOST OF ALL - GOD BLESS AMERICA
Curious about Freepers feedback on this.
Red is a commie color.
I'm in.
I'll spread it around to my conservative (many) friends.
My conservative kids will too!
Love the idea.
Shouldn't we pay $20 for a plastic bracelet to show we are as "nuanced" as the liberals?
- SARCASM -
I already wear red EVERY Friday to get ready for the weekend. The shirts do say "Dale Jr., Dale Earnhardt Jr., Budweiser" or have the number "8" on them. I guess they'll still work.
I don't wear red well anyway. Maybe something with red on it like an American flag.
I see....so, following your logic, everyone living in "Red States" are actually commies or support communists. Sports teams whose color is red are actually commies in disguise. We better get rid of the "red" in red, white and blue.
Sheesh.
I will now await feedback from Freepers who do not see a commie under every red Crayola.
"Red is a commie color."
'Tis true but look at this way - once the left gets the word we will have effectively created a situation where the left will, once a week, have to forego their favorite color. A kind of self-censorship. At the same time those that don't know will get questionable looks/strong words from their enlightened leftist cohorts.
Ha, ha.
Yeah, so I'll go for red, white and blue or wear my flag pin.
Might want to check this important article from June 23,2005. http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/redfriday.asp
We must fight the Communists for the color red. If we fail to do so, they will move to domination of the adjacent secondary colors- purple and orange. We must nip this color take-over in the bud.
PING
Ah, of course, the liberal approach: Tell us poor conservatives how stupid we are, how we just cannot understand something like symbolism.
All the while ignoring my comments posted right below the E-mail received.
Grocery clerk: That'll be $22.53
technomage: I noticed that you are wearing red. Are you doing it to support the troops? I am.

It was in the US and Texas flags long before there were commies. Further it is the color of the United States Army Field Artillery.
I just wear my Club Gitmo shirt a few times a week here in Western Massachusetts. I love the way some people react. Priceless.
One of the favorite jokes where I work is to put rainbow ribbon stickers on fellow employee cars to see how long it takes them to discover it,HaHaHa.
