I've never done this before and forgive me if I get it wrong.
We found out a couple of hours ago that our elder daughter went to Bali with friends without telling us. We haven't heard from her since the bombings (or at all, for that matter).
Logically, objectively, we know the odds are immensely against her being caught up in this. But logic and objectivity only go so far.
And it's driving me crazy. And my wife. And our other kids.
Prayers that your daughter is all right and will get in touch with you soon to let you know.
PRAYERS FOR YOUR DAUGHTER!
Prayed.
Prayers. And a grounding.
Or whatever. Seriously, I hope everything turns out OK...
God be with your daughter, and with you.
Prayers sent for your daughter and her friends as well as you and your wife.
I'm praying. Does she have your contact details in Australia handy, and does she know the details of the nearest Australian diplomatic representation in Bali or nearby?
Find out if the American Embassy has a contact line for family of victims. They can give you information regarding where to find out about the injured. They may also be acting as liason for American citizens trying to let their family and friends know they are alright.
If the American Embassy can not help you could try the British Embassy.
If your daughter uses credit cards or her cell phone you might be able to get info from the credit card or cell phone company as to when and where they were used last.
You would have to explain the emergency involved. They still may refuse to give you the info. But it is worth a try.
My hope and prayers are with you.
She knows the basics of what to do in such a case - because I didn't know she was going she didn't get my normal be safe lecture, but she's heard it several times before. The fact we haven't heard anything from her hopefully means that she's far enough away from this that she doesn't know there's a reason we'd be worried.
Prayers for all the answers you'd most like to hear, and the safety of your daughter and her friends.
You don't have to ask for forgiveness on this type matter.
Let us just put it in the good Lord's hands and with prayer, believing you shall soon hear from her soon and that she was not in the vicinity when the event took place.
Thoughts go out to you and yours.
I would think communications are likely in overload at present. Hoping you hear from her soon.
Prayers for your daughter's safe return.
You are in our prayers. Please let us know when you find out anything.
Prayers on the way!
Thanks for the advice - I'm Australian and I have made the correct moves with DFAT here.
She's not on any current lists of injured, dead, or missing, neither are any of her friends. The good news is that she was in a group - if a group of Australian girls were involved, we'd expect that to be quite big news. The fact that there is nothing means that hopefully they are all OK.
prayer bump!
Prayers for your daughter.
