"That fact is, a lot of suicides are done publicly to gain attention.".....................................

"The one that just occured recently - one of the contestants stopped touching the truck, walked over to a store, stole a shotgun and some shells and blew his head off in front of some cops and onlookers."

Here's the difference. To my knowledge and probably everyone elses, on this threads knowledge, IT WAS NOT DONE IN FRONT OF ANYONE. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL EYE WITNESSES.

Do you have evidence otherwise?

There were witnesses but only after they felt the bomb blast. Don't know if anyone noticed him before that. As for the person that called the fraternity, I am surprised anyone talked to him since the name was only released at 4:00.

Another comment is that if he had waited another five minutes there would have been people all around there as they would have left the stadium at halftime. First half ran longer than usual.

Regarding the minutes of the Frat meetings. If you have ever been in a fraternity you will know that weekly meeting are usually slap stick affairs where little or no constructive work gets done. Brothers will use codes or certain phrases to pass along info they want to brag about (sexual conquests, drinking binges, etc) but don't want to say directly as minutes for meetings are considered public records at most schools. That is exactly what the minutes sound like. The bashing of missing brothers is also done more in jest the actually scolding them for missing the meeting. I had one brother who could only get the class he needed on Monday nights (our meeting night) and the things we said about him were quite nasty, but we knew it was in fun. The outsiders who read our minutes always thought there was a great fissure in the frat, which couldn't have been further from the truth.

Also for what is worth Ebay does not allow sales of live ammo or working firearms, its in their policy.

The guy had mental problems, he blew himself up in a public area. Whether there were witnesses or not doesn't matter - you don't go to a public area intending to commit suicide if you didn't want attention.

If he didn't want attention, he could have stayed at home and blew himself up, or hung himself, or offed himself in any other number of ways.

It's no different than somebody going to a bridge in San Francisco and throwing themselves off - his method was just a little bit more fancy, that's all.
