The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
Amen brother. With the amount of tin foil on this thread ALCOA is going to have a record quarter.
Sorry. I didn't realize you were on the scene in Edmond.
Not being there myself, I only know what I've read several places -- that police merely destroyed the undetonated explosive left by the suicide.
The lack of the crater doesn't bother me yet. First, it could have been placed on the bench, not worn as a vest. More evidence will clarify the matter. What bothers me about my theory is that there were apparently no nails or shrapnel attached, which one would expect from a homicide bombing. This story is weird no matter how you look at it.
Glad you're okay! :)
Edmond? LOL! OU is in Norman.

I was at the game and did not hear or feel a second explosion, nor did I see anybody near me react to any second explosion (everybody in my section heard the first one.) However, I also saw the new reports that the police bomb squad detonated something that was first reported as a second explosive, but now is being reported as non-explosive which was destroyed to be safe. If the bomb squad did this right in the area (which I assume they did) it is possible that others may have heard this. I did not.
And it's Norman, not Edmond.
Nothing whatsoever at the link provided, unfortunately, stating that this "was a suicide, but not a suicide bomber."
What'd I miss? Who got zotted from the thread?
I googled "selling ammo on e-bay" and this was one of the top links.
I don't now if it helps, but I tried. The article is from 1999 and I'm gonna go back now and read the WHOLE thing, but from the article's begining, it read like e-bay was getting ready to quit selling ammo about that time.
When did this guy say he was trying to purchase his e-bay ammo?
Thanks.
Oops! and lol!
Those seven-letter words can sure be confusing.
(Actually, I grew up not too far south of Norman and used to live in Edmond. I know full well where OU is -- and Stillwater, too, for that matter. Sorry!)
JessieP got zotted. He started a new thread claiming that he spoke to the fraternity the suicide guy belonged to and verified that muslims were not involved. I think the mods zotted him for posting unverified info but I don't know. I guess the mods had an inside scoop on JessieP's story.
The 2nd explosion was conducted by the bomb squad apparently:

Authorities haven't identified what kind of explosive device was used. Boren initially said a second explosive device was detonated by a bomb squad Saturday night, but later said no other devices had been discovered.
Authorities detonated a backpack with a mild explosive device, but no other explosive materials were found inside, Boren said.
Weird thread...
Totally
What I dont understand is how is it possible to ID a body blown into small pieces, within 18 hours. Even if they found a wallet, how do they know for a fact, beyond doubt that it was this kid? I still say that the assumption of suicide initially was unreasonable also. Who decided that it was suicide?
Looks like President Boren is a good politician.
He should be, he was a US Senator for 15 years.
. . . and his son, Daniel, is a congressman from Oklahoma.
If it detonated on a thick reinforced concrete road, let's say (not a bad idea for heavyweight vehicles such as might visit a stadium), there might not be much of a crater.
What is WEIRD, is the media's total lack of interest in this story from the get go. All night long, FoxNews has been literally dragging up every murder investigation in the continental US..(and aruba)..BUT NO MENTION OF A BOMB GOING OFF NEXT TO A BIO LAB AND KILLING A STUDENT AT OU IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOOTBALL GAME WITH UP TO 85,000 FANS! sorry for 'shouting'..but give me a break. I am supergluing my foil hat to my head right now in case my hubby tries to remove it later...lol
