From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said. The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.
The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.
After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

Major coverup here. Been flipping between CNN and Fox and this story is not even mentioned. This story is being mentioned on FOX NEWS, but only a few sentences. It was at the top of the hour and will be repeated, (I'm sure), every hour until the whole story is investigated.

You know, it would be interesting to find out if the cities with NFL games today have been advised to put on extra security.
Also, I may have missed it on this thread but did anyone state if they check bags, etc. going into the games at OU?
To: Kozak
hahaha yea , you're right there . Wonder how they will bend this to be Bush's fault. Should be interesting .

No only the lack of questions, oceanview--but the lack of reporting as well! They covered the Halloway case with NO news and FEW facts for months--but this gets, what, a tiny mention?

Where's the head? When people blow themselves up usually the head is found, sometimes at a great distance.
When was the last time someone used a bomb just to commit suicide? Usually the purpose behind suicide bombing is to kill others. Usually suicide bombing is only a last resort, when bombs cannot be reliably placed.
Where is the press's interest in what is a very interesting story, jihad or no jihad?

Whether it was an intentional homicide bomber who was going into the stadium at half-time whose bomb blew up too soon (and the second bomb's bomber did not pick it up in time before it was found by the authorities) or it was a disgruntled OU student who had a beef with the university it is horrible. Either case is news. This does not happen on major university campuses everyday.

Remember the initial 9/11 reports that of the "accident" of an airplane running into the WTC. Which was entirely possible until the second one showed up.

"If you'd heard the Ruf-Nek "guns," you'd know what I mean. They get me in the pit of the stomach or sometimes the solar plexus. They are LOUD and explosive."
I've heard them from outside the stadium (I'm not a fan of football, OU's or anyones, which makes me a heretic here in Oklahoma) and they are fairly loud. The ROTC folks also fire a cannon as part of the ceremonies they participate in, and I've heard that, as well. Louder, IIRC, than the Ruf-Neks, possibly, but the stadium design could have kept me from hearing them clearly, too. (acting as a funnel and directing the sound up, instead of allowing it to spread.)
It's possible that the bomber was simply trying to take himself out, and do additional damage, but his device malfunctioned (low-order explosion instead of high-order) or that he was trying to damage and/or deface other equipment or facilities, or that he was trying to get into the stadium, and failed. My thoughts in this post are mostly speculation, which is really a waste of time, but I normally attend classes across the oval from Cross Hall, and often park in the stadium parking building. My wife is liable to freak out when she hears of this.

I want to see the media start asking just one question - "who commits suicide by blowing themselves up with a pipe bomb outside a stadium that has 84,000 people in it?".
that's all I want as an opening round of good journalism, just that one simple question. is that too much to ask from all the nay-sayers on this thread who are calling us the "grassy knoll" crowd?

I admit I haven't read every post on this thread but...
"Law enforcement officers cordoned off the South Oval just west of the stadium and used bomb-sniffing dogs and a robot to conduct a search. A second explosive device found in the area was detonated. "
...Is it possible that the Bomb Squad detonating the second device is what shook the stadium?

it was? on a crystal clean morning, you think a legitimate pilot could have flown a major airliner into the world trade center - "accidently"?
