The FBI says it sometimes gets the wrong number when it intercepts conversations in terrorism investigations, an admission critics say underscores a need to revise wiretap provisions in the Patriot Act.

Where was PMSNBC at when the FBI was doing this throughout the Xlinton regime?
I don't care what they hear as long as they don't plan on arresting me for arguing with my wife about dinner.
Big news - the FBI can make a mistake.
What's next? The president goes to the bathroom?
They're human.
No, Reuters already revealed that.....
I'm more worried when the police can't read a search warrant or street address and raid the wrong house.
"Wrong number?"
That's happened many times. Some times they've killed the homeowner! Drug raids gone bad.
I'm more bothered by inadvertent drug raids. the feds can listen to my phone converstaions all they want, maybe they can shut down the phone on my kids....
In DC, the "wrong" homeowner had a heart attack and died - when the FBI busted into her house, knocking out the front door.
No joke.
I think it could happen to me - I'd be so shocked that someone would be battering down my front door.
More than that, I worry about the FBI smearing someone I know by naming them a "person of interest" when they've done absolutely nothing wrong - as the FBI have been wont to do over the past several years.
I must say I am shocked by how many of you are responding to this by saying that you don't care. If you allow one invasion of your privacy - you allow it ALL.
"What's next? The president goes to the bathroom?"
Nah... they already covered that during the UN Meeting... (o;
There needs to be some sort of accountability if this action is allowed at all. The Patriot Act is one of the worst pieces of legislation ever introduced in the U.S. IMHO. So many parts are so obviously unconstitutional it's pathetic - but not many "average Americans" can get past the "it's for our safety" idea...
