Unfortunately, you are correct about that. The 2 1/2 years I lived in West Denver were frightening. I don't know about DAILY shootings, but in the summertime during the wee hours of the morning, I heard a fair share personally. On one occasion a young man was murdered just a few blocks from my house...

I do know that helicopters with search lights hovering above my house and sweeping through my backyard were an almost daily occurrence...

I didn't see too much evidence of gang activity like you might expect, but then again my kids did not attend the public schools.

Illegal immigration as you pointed out is a huge problem in the area. Mostly problems related to health-care costs (and treatment policies), as well as uninsured driver problems. Twice we had our license plate stickers stolen, and it was a regular occurence to have either stickers or plates stolen in the parking lot of the store I worked in...

Can't tell you how glad I am to be out of there!

We make the trek to Denver about a dozen times a year. We have season Bronco tickets and go to most of their home games. The rest of the trips are for business.

Sadly, Denver has changed for the worse over the past couple of decades. I refuse to spend the night there. We usually stay in Cheyenne, Fort Collins or Loveland. Greeley is getting totally overrun by a very undesirable element, as well. There are some really nice areas in Denver, unfortunately you usually have to drive through some bad ones to get to them.

About 10 years ago, the Highway Patrol stopped me for an expired tag, I had it in my purse, the Officer told me to go and put it on and then he showed me how, after it was on, to take a knife and score it.

4 or 5 cuts each way, will make it so that it cannot be removed.

He said that there were a lot of thefts of them here too.

You can listen to 850koa.com on the computer, if your computer does that.......mine does not, so I listen to Denver most nights on the radio after dark.
