(LR: More about the bomb threat in IL - near Springfield) ARGENTA - Students at the Argenta-Oreana Junior High and High School complex got an unexpected holiday Monday as a result of school district concerns over a bomb threat received by the Argenta Police Department.

A plastic pop bottle filled with an overpressured chemical was crafted into a homemade bomb that exploded outside the school. The school was evacuated when someone heard the noise.

Bomb Squad Takes Care of Suspicious Material

So to be on the safe side, a bomb squad from Minneapolis took the jar to a nearby rock quarry and properly detonated it.
Members of the bomb squad say the substance was not nitroglycerin. There is still no official word on what it was.

Police Investigate 'Suspicious Device' in Fishers

At a press conference at around 5:30 pm, police said a device was found inside the home and that a bomb team had looked at it. Police say the device has shrapnel and is fuse-triggered. A K-9 unit was being called in to make sure there were no other devices in the home.
