DES MOINES, Iowa -- The fiancé of Noel Miller, the mother of a 5-year-old girl who was found in the Cedar River, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography.
Evelyn Miller went missing July 1. Her body was found six days later.
On or about about July, Casey Frederiksen possessed computer images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to court documents.
Frederiksen was arrested by the U.S. Postal Inspection service Thursday night, according to a news release. He is set to appear in federal court Friday afternoon.

We have 6-8 of them. I think I gave a couple to the church nursery when we were cleaning house. James isn't two yet, and some of the shows (Bulldozer, Airplane) have very loud noises that upset him.

I hope there are also charges against the "mother" of this child. She brought this freak into the house and family unit, and then tried to cover up for him when the child was killed.
She deserves serious jail time for her role in all of this.
With all due respect to your excellent daily commentary, the Supreme Court ruled that the federal child porn law applied to actual, not virtual child porn. That is not saying that it is ok. It's just saying that the law doesn't ban virtual child porn. What should happen is that we should pressure congress to pass a more comprehensive law that includes virtual child porn.

That is correct, I forgot the little boys are in foster care. Lord knows what they might have been subjected to.
The Floyd County attorney released a statement clarifying that even though the homicide and the porn involve the same people they're separate cases. Interesting. I think that if Casey were guilty of Evelyn's murder, they would coordinate with federal authorities more and also have charged him with murder. Instead, they seem to be saying they don't think he did it. I think that if they think he was responsible, they'd make that clear from the get-go.
Rumor around town is that Noel has a new man. She's such a looker, I can see why so many men want her. ;-) Maybe since she doesn't have any of her kids left, she'll just make more.
I heard teh dad on the radio this morning, he said he went to school and was friends with this man. How horrible.

Does the one count thing strike anyone else as odd? Normally in these cases there are multiple counts charged. Wonder if they had a thin case with the Grand Jury and are using this charge against him to get him to turn against Noel? I predict this will never go to trial and he'll plead out on a lesser charge.
This whole story is so strange. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
Unfortunately, you hear many cases of the mother siding with the boyfriend when the child tells her she is being abused by the boyfriend. As a mother, I don't even know how it is biologically possible to not protect your own child while defending the person that is harming him/her, I get that crazy animal instinct when I just think about it. Things seemed odd from the getgo with this case and some of the interviews I read on FR from the mom and boyfriend. My heart breaks for this little girl and what she went through. May she be wrapped in Jesus' loving arms as we speak.

Where are you getting that the fiancee/boyfriend/whatever he is was abusing Evelyn? I just saw an interview with Evelyn's biological father saying she never showed any signs of abuse.
Some people here would love to have a Jump To Conclusions Mat, I think.
I never said that he abused her. I said that in too many cases, the moms don't protect the kids even if they are abused and go to them. I said things seemed off in some of the interviews I read and with this arrest, it seems that things were very off.

UPDATED: Man Close to Miller Case Charged with Child Porn

KCRG-TV9(Cedar Rapids – KCRG) -- Casey Frederiksen has been charged with one count of possession of child porn. You may know Frederiksen as the fiance of Noel Miller, whose daughter, Evelyn, was murdered this past July.
Casey Frederiksen will made an initial appearance in U.S. District court at one o'clock Friday.
The indictment alleges that Frederiksen possessed images of children engaged in sexual conduct on a computer in July of 2005.
In a TV9 interview two weeks ago, Frederiksen insisted his computer contained only family photos and memorabilia. He wanted a chance to explain to the federal grand jury.
Frederiksen told TV9, “For the last four years, we had a digital camera. So that was all our pictures of our boys growing up and our daughter. It was all we have left of our memories.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office would not say if any of the explicit photos of children allegedly on the computer were of Evelyn Miller.
At this point, no one's drawing a connection between this federal child porn possession case and Evelyn Miller's disappearance and death. Frederiksen and Noel Miller have repeatedly criticized the actions of investigators. No one has been charged in the murder.
Floyd County Attorney Marilyn Dettmer is handling the murder investigation. She issued a statement today saying, “even though the cases are separate, it is obvious that the facts of each have an impact on the other. The murder investigation continues to function as a high priority matter by all agencies involved.”
Frederiksen’s sister issued a statement to the media encouraging people to keep an open mind and insisting Frederiksen is not responsible for Evelyn’s death.
Punishment for a single charge of possessing child pornography is a maximum prison sentence of ten years.

So if Evelyn's father knew there was drugs and fighting there why didn't he try to gain custody?
If I remember correctly, he and his wife may have been trying. But, since he and her mother were minors, and never so much as lived together, ... Well, I'd guess it would be an uphill battle.
Was that possibly a clip from last night's phone interview with Greta Van Susteren?
At any rate, I think the 3 of them -- Andy (bio dad), Noel (mom), and Casey (Noel's live-in for 5? years now) -- were all close friends in high school. When Noel got pregnant by Andy, the two of them split. I gather it wasn't much later when Casey stepped up to the plate. She has two kids by him, too.
