(Illegal Aliens) Father, son implicated in slaying of Catholic deacon

A police statement filed with the Wasatch County Jail implicates a father and son in the shooting death Sunday of a Heber City man, but it does not explain a motive. Antonio Pelaez-Vasquez, 55, and Cunny A. Pelaez, 19, admitted to being in their van when someone shot and killed Aniceto Armendariz, according to a probable cause statement filed by the Utah Highway Patrol. "During the same interview," the statement reads, "one of the suspects described the shooting incident and the weapon used." Police recovered a 20-gauge shotgun and shells from the scene and say Pelaez described the firearm. The statement does not say why Armendariz was killed. As for a relationship between Armendariz and the father and son, the statement says: "The victim and . . . one of the suspects had been associates prior to this incident in a school setting." UHP Lt. Doug McCleve said investigators believe the victim and the suspects had "some kind of acquaintance prior to this occurring" but are still trying to determine the nature of the acquaintance. Armendariz, a Catholic deacon who also worked with Catholic charities, and his wife were driving to Heber City on U.S. Highway 40 Sunday night after a Mass in Park City. Near the Mayflower exit, a blue Chevy minivan in the left lane pulled beside their car and someone began firing a gun. Armendariz was shot in the head and died immediately. His wife escaped the shooting and the ensuing crash without injury. Pelaez-Vasquez and Pelaez, who are undocumented immigrants, were being held in the Wasatch County Jail on Thursday on suspicion of aggravated homicide. They had not been formerly charged with any crime. The pair was caught near the scene shortly after police arrived

"Undocumented." Um, yeah.

"Undocumented." Um, yeah.

Maybe it works like this:

An "undocumented" illegal alien is someone not in possession of fake I.D.

A "documented" illegal alien is one who can produce some form of I.D. (forged, stolen, or whatever).

In my mind if they cannot prove they are in the country legally (have documentation)they are illegally in the country. It is not for us to prove they are here illegally, it is up to them to prove they are.

When you are caught driving without a license, the police do not have to prove you do not have one, you have to prove you do.

We have probably lost more people to illegal aliens since 9/11 than died in the terrorist attacks. We should arrest, document, and deport every one of these criminal invading barbarians.

We should arrest, document, and deport..

Nice start, but then what? A catch and release program with a porous border doesn't do much. It should be very hard and dangerous to come across illegally. Getting caught multiple times should involve very unpleasant consequences--although I'm not sure exactly what's appropriate. Prison doesn't seem all that much of a threat for some.

Illegal entry is a misdemeanor but .....

It's a felony to return after being deported. This law should be enforced with violators locked away in cheap tent city prison in the desert like Sheriff Joe Arpaio's

A few more incidents like this may find the Catholic Church modifying it's position of putting compassion over the laws of the countries it operates in.

I sure hope so. I never hop on Catholic bashing threads. But the US Catholic church is bold and open about it's aiding and abetting of illegal immigrants and illegal immigration

Neither do I, but I don't consider bashing Mahony or other church leaders (Catholic or otherwise) as being the same as putting down a particular church or denomination.

But the US Catholic church is bold and open about it's aiding and abetting of illegal immigrants and illegal immigration.

That's putting it mildly. There are also Protestant denominations who behave likewise. All in the name of Christian compassion, of course. (Pffft!)

The MSM apparently have a problem with words from the dictionary. They really need to do a search before writing articles.
