A cashier at a South Lubbock Pizza Hut fought off a
would-be robber with a broom.
Police say the man walked into the Pizza Hut at 3311
82nd Street around 3 o'clock Thurss afternoon. He
demanded money but the cashier refused. He then pulled
out a pistol and tried to fire but the gun didn't go
off. That is when the cashier hit the gunman with a
broom and he left.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 30's,
six-feet tall, and he weighs about 190 pounds. He
has short dark hair and is clean shaven. He was last
seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
This store clerk is one plucky person. I wanna go to this Pizza Hut and buy this clerk a round of beer at a watering hole of his or her choice.
oh my, can they identify the perp as a "black man"?
Shouldn't it be alledgedly a black man?
West Texas is not acquainted with PC Speak. They tend to issue descriptions of perps rather than appease the knee-jerk speech police. ;-)
That is when the cashier hit the gunman with a broom and he left.
The cashier left...........?
Maybe the guy is new in town and the cashier wouldn't honor his check from the New Orleans bank.

glad to hear it. Most of America is too, just not the blue areas.
In this part of Texas, they usually find robbers and mete swift justice to them. Also, criminals out here usually receive the maximum penalty allowed by law.
I used their title. I, too, would have written the headline differently. Then, again, I am not a Journalism student...
Are you trying to make me ruin my monitor?
:-)
"Very poor writing."
Most of the writing that I have read in newspapers and heard on TV newscasts is rather poor.

I'd pay 10 bucks to watch this...
and again for $4
and again for $4
and again for $4
...
My apologies. I had noticed that it was the real title after going to the source article. My comment was directed at the writer of the article.....:-)
"The cashier left...........?"
At Pizza Hut, the robber eats, leaves, and shoots.
The headline isn't written to well either.
No blood, no foul.
I never edit material from news organisations regardless of whether the headline or the body is poorly written. Besides, it does afford to us an opportunity to mock the writing style that is taught in journalism programmes.
