Need help finding 3 year old post (vanity)

At least 3 years ago, I posted here asking for help with a city animal ordinance. Someone referred me to a court ruling saying cities could not set arbitrary limits on pet ownership. Could anyone help me find that court ruling or the old post?

Yes, I,m back in the same fix. I moved from the city to a small town taking my dozen cats with me. I checked before I moved to make sure that I could have a dozen cats, but two years after buying the property here, the city passed and ordinance saying that I can't take in and care for the numerous stray cats here. No grandfather clause. Though vaccinated, fixed and killing the local rats, this city has decided they have a cat problem, not a rat problem.

If you have any idea what the original thread was titled you might find it that way with a search on FR or google which picks up FR threads.

About three years old I think, but it's got a rope on it. Is that ok?

Can you narrow down the time frame a little to a month or season?

The trick is to take a link to your comments page like:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/user-posts?id=27113;more=8800000
and cycle through that number at the end. That number is kind of the Free Republic's index of all articles incremented every time an article is posted. But in this case all but your posts are filtered out. So you increase the number to go forwards in time and decrease to go back.

I was helped out by the fact that you weren't posting replies that often back then.

I'm curious about why you take in all these cats? No offense intended -- I have a two close elderly relatives who do this, and I'm wondering if it's more than just a tender heart.

I'll admit I'm not an INSIDE cat lover, - their hair makes my nose itch and I think they stink, especially when people have lots of them. I don't even want to sit down on their furniture. (putting on my flame proof suit now)

No grandfather clause, hmm. Their must be some reason the community has suddenly decided this? Do you know what, if any, problems the cats might be causing for anyone, or any of the wildlife, such as birds?

We DO have a cat, she lives at the barn and cons both my husband and me into feeding her by the way she acts, as if she's starving and no one has fed her on any particular day.

"she lives at the barn"

A Rancher I used to dig post holes for had about 78 cats around his barns and feed bins...only one male.

I agree it is probably an emotional problem. Empty nest syndrome, widowed, even a house fire. I've lost a lot and the cats are comfort. ?

Also, I don't know what to do with them. There is NO animal shelter around here. I know, unbelievable. The town's solution is to just kill them. They tell me to take them to a farm, but I don't know any farmers. The town refuses to help me find anyone who wants cats. I don't know where to send them. 3 stray brother cats just came to our house in August. It was like momma had told them where to go....

No grandfather clause, hmm. Their must be some reason the community has suddenly decided this? Do you know what, if any, problems the cats might be causing for anyone, or any of the wildlife, such as birds?

The town council refuses to tell me what the complaint against me cats is. If it was a specific cat or habit, I would immediately deal with it. But it seems silly to dump most of the cats on a farm only to find that the few I kept were the very ones that were the problem to whoever. Or not even my cat. These are LOCAL strays.

BTW, this town has lots of rodents. My cats killed 2 rats yesterday and another early this morning. I have collected a dozen dead rats in freezer bags in a freezer (not MY house) and I will take them to the town council meeting. What do you think of that idea?

I would sure appreciate prayers for me to find a place in the country to live in peace.
