Changed Lives Are Possible

Lord Kenneth Clark, internationally known for his television series Civilization, lived and died without faith in Jesus Christ. In his autobiography, he wrote about an overwhelming religious experience he had while visiting a beautiful church.
"My whole being," Clark wrote, "was irradiated by a kind of heavenly joy far more intense than anything I had known before." Unfortunately, the "flood of grace," as he described it, created a problem for him. If he allowed himself to be influenced by it, he knew he would have to change. His family might think he had lost his mind. Or perhaps the intense joy would prove to be an illusion. So he concluded, "I was too deeply embedded in the world to change course."
What a tragedy! If only he had responded to that grace-granted glimpse of another world! If only he had allowed it to turn his attention away from this world and toward Jesus! Then he would have become a part of that invisible world, which is not an illusion but a glorious reality.
God can enable any of us to change, no matter how deeply embedded we may be in this world. The miracle of the new birth (John 3:5-7) will take place when we say yes to the stirring of God's grace in our souls. Vernon Grounds
Salvation is not reformation but transformation.
Today's trivia information Ken Clarke family home is at Saltwood which is only about 6 or 8 miles from Ashford, Kent where I live.
It's a small world isn't it..
A gruesome thought, but do you suppose all those gators are why they didn't find any 10,000 bodies in NOLA? There might not have been many in NO, but there were in Lake Pontchartrain and in the swamps to the south, which became connected by water to NO, after the Hurricanes?
Ex HMS Hermes. The Indians once operated more conventional CTOL carriers. Ther Hermes/Viraat was a CTOL carrier before being refit as a "Harrier Carrier" in British service, complete with ski ramp. She was first laid down in 1944.
US Navy/USMC looked into, and conducted trials of ski ramps, but for reasons unknown to me, did not choose to use them. The advantage is that the aircraft can take off at higher gross weight, meaning more fuel and/or bombs, than vertical takeoff allows. USS Wasp and USS Tarawa class are larger and we don't even consider them "carriers", but rather Amphibious Assault Ships. Of course they contain lots of facilities for embarking Marines that the Heremes/Viraat class does not have or need.
The Viraat is the only Indian carrier, although they keep trying to aquire another, while we have 7 Wasp class, 5 Tarawa class, plus 12? or so "Big Deck" CTOL carriers.
A long wait and about time I'd say.
OooRah! Semper Fi Marines.
Happy that the Yankees won today...ducking in case there are Boston fans here ;-)
Good afternoon/evening deadhead! I'm not a fan of either but will celebrate with you just 'cause!
General Peter Pace is a good man. Happy that he is now Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff :-)
Shhhhh!!! Hush your mouth, El Gato!
That idea might be taken up and carried along by the libs, accusing us of having deliberately *planted" all those alligators there to thin their voting population.
They'll paint Red "R's" on their snouts, turn 'em loose, and say it is a contemptible Vast Right Jawed conspiracy to take their seats!!
Thank You, LUV W
Go AIR FORCE :-)
Always cheer for the Air Force! LOL!
I will :-) My cousin's daughter will be stationed in Guam, she will be part of the Medical Support team. I am proud of her and all who serve.

Your graphic and sentiment are lovely, thank you so much :-)
You're welcome. As an Air Force mom and former AF wife--I have been there done that! It's the best place to be, in my opinion! I'm sure Lady X will laugh at that! Such the Marine she is! LOL!
Thanks to all the sacrifices of Military families
P.S. LadyX, read on FR that your Marine buddy, Racebannon is in China.
Racebannon, let us know how you are doing.
Okay - I began as a Marine - married a Navy hospital corpsman - 'had gone overboard,' and detached after 4 years.
Three years later, met present husband (of 44 years).
He happened to be going through Basic Training at Parris Island, we determined, when I was there in 1952 - went straight to combat in Korea, and was a POW.
Repatriated, and a year and a half later went into the Air Force as a neuropsychiatric technician.
Out after 4 years - back in AF again in 1961 (just before we married) until 1969, including a year of combat in Southeast Asia.
No. Two Son was in the Army - kinda - FAA training at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii meant no field or war games..:))
He after 9/11 sidestepped from FAA into the TSA at West Palm International Airport, and his government service is about 24 years - can retire 5 years from now.
HIS son is in the Air Force (7 years) at Colorado Springs.
My father was at Kelly Field, Texas in the Army Air Corps during WWI.
After 9/11, both my brothers tried to reenlist, they were told they were too old, not by much. Rules, rules, rules :-) One brother was Army, one Navy, they were willing to go into any branch of the military and wanted to go. I am proud that they wanted to serve again, though I would have worried, as all military families do. Now, we have the younger generation stepping up to the plate, God Bless them. But, we all do what we can now to support our Military.
You have had a very interesting life, LadyX :-)
Last week, my local newspaper published a letter that I wrote to them. They are a left leaning paper, surprised the print is not in red. I have written to them in the past, this is the first time they published a letter of mine. What is sad, is that this newspaper is the one that everyone here reads. No, I don't buy the paper. Here is my letter, and it was edited by them
Thanks be to 'Fighting 69th'
To the "Fighting 69th": Welcome home ["'69th' home at last," News, Sept. 17]. My heartfelt thanks to you for serving our great country. I am proud of all of you and support you. I know what freedom is, thanks to you. God bless America.
