I agree with you.
I've been developing a similar train of thought since this story started to break.
The short term reward of getting one more nail into Clinton's polluted legacy just isn't worth it. Even a home run doesn't score anything useful for the future. This is rear-view mirror thinking, and what's behind us is simply of no value.
Another way to put it: If Able Danger was really worthwhile then it might still be worthwhile and its sources and methods should be protected. If it wasn't yielding useful results and was a waste of time then there is no point in hashing through it.
I fail to see the gain in once again rehashing the intel lost misinterpreted or misread leading up to 9/11. We know about that. We know we missed it. No surprise here.
We've got to stop shooting the wounded on the home team.

Well Pukin, from the first I heard of Able Danger (here on FR, of course, where else?) I've been worrying about the same thing. Now may not a good time for this particular national debate.
I've always thought we had to be doing some very interesting things under the covers, for us to be as successful as we've been.
I've also concluded that whatever the Able Danger technology has evolved into over the last few years, the very nature of it is guaranteed to yield information, including false positives, that none of us would likely be delighted to see in the hands of some hack bipartisan oversight committee.
If Able Danger's successor has become a 100 billion dollar black ops program and has managed to just barely prevent a dozen separate Post 911 WMD attacks on our soil, while secretly and thoroughly violating the privacy of half of the planet, I'm not sure we want the world to know just yet...

"Well, I have to be careful here, but let me just ask you, do you think that there might be reasons why we have not been attacked again since 9-11? Do you think that the terrorists haven't tried? If so, you would be wrong. You will never be told just how many times, or even more importantly, exactly HOW terrorist attacks on this country have been stopped before they could be carried out. But, I guarantee you that if the Democrats need to let this information become public to protect themselves from blame, they will do so."
Sounds like a bit of political blackmail happening. The only enemies the Clintons ever had and sought to destroy was that "VAST RIGHT WING". Hillry did not gain access to all those FBI files to stop terrorist, and what is there to prevent her from repeating her activities as commie in chief?
Clintons never did anything to stop terrorism. Gorelick did not build walls to stop terrorists and it is a tough sell to ignore their evil.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were just an idiot.
I wont be responding to your silly comments anymore.

Bingo.
However, this information already is in the hands of a few partisan hacks, who would like nothing better than to have an opportunity to expose false positive hits in an effort to defend Democrats. Not only that, but the methods for gathering this data would be exposed and trust me, you don't want that getting out.

It appears that the Able Danger project must have violated multiple federal statutes in its data mining operations - a situation no doubt rendered moot by the Patriot Act. Mind you, I'm just speculating ...

With all the voter fraud that has come to light, do you honestly believe the public ELECTED Clinton?

Ah ok, well doesn't matter about the voting "fraud" what matters is the "frauds" took possession of the pinnacle of power of the whole of this modern earth. We lived it, and see the results of their fraud and a leopard does not change his spots. These frauds will attempt whatever it takes to regain the self believe ideology they are more equal than the rest. The only thing that stands in their way is the "RIGHT" their natural born enemy.

I know I didn't explain it clearly - 99% of all intel IS unclassified.
What makes it classified is WHO did the interpretation! That also gives the information the reliability factor.
What Osama said was NOT classified at all (in my example) the only thing classified was the fact that NSA (example also) had and analyzed it and confirmed it inside a report with other analysis. NSA gave it credence and importance.
Damn! That explanation sucked too - but there is only so much that can be said and still keep it UNclassified!

Wouldn't exposing more Able Danger information also expose the translators?
::THIS IS MY SPECULATION::
Remember the Lynn Stewart trial? Lynn Stewart was Sheik Rahman's attorney.
During her trial, one of the translators for the prosecution had a tragedy in the family.
That tragedy was the Coptic Family that was murdered in Jersey City.
Related? I don't know, that is my speculation.

I am encouraged that some of you on this thread have gone beyond the typical "lets-get-Clinton" mentality and considered the dangers in pursuing the Able Danger investigation. There are a lot of good reasons for putting this thing to bed, and Rumsfeld should not have to explain it publicly. We should be sophisticated enough to understand when our own team does not want to move forward on matters like this.

I would love to have the truth come out and how Clinton squandered another chance to stop a terrorist attack on us, but at the same time I don't want them to reveal just how they accomplished getting this information.
We must always remember that the terrorists are watching what is going on just like us.

It is hard to reason, isn't it? But the number of mindless parasites in this country seems to be on the increase, encouraged of course, by the reprobates of the left.

"Any government that only pulls an Assistant Secretary of State's clearance for 3 years after he steals secrets in his socks, and then pulls a 20 year active Colonel's clearance for life after he blows the lid on this, means a government that isn't fit to run the nation."
You are exactly right. The powerful protect the powerful, at any cost.
"Blow it out your pukin a$$."
Don't hold back, let us know what you really think. :~)

I'm a blue state denizen and am surrounded by mindless parasites. I would still like to believe they are a minority.
