"It was the age of selfishness. It was the age of self-indulgence. It was the age of anti-authority. It was an age in which people did all kinds of wrong things."

- Ed Meese III, U.S. Attorney General, Reagan Administration

"It was absolutely exhilarating. It was the greatest time to be alive ever, for sure."

- Charles Kaiser, Author/Historian

Yeah, one of the bouys ,Tom Ledford, is getting married and the honeymoon bit. So they are taking a hiatus for about a month. They put on a good show, and for about three or four hours. They get people dancing to some of those 1969 songs!

Not that I ever respected the man but my favorite quote regarding the sixties came from Timothy Leary: "If you remember the 60's you weren't there."

You're too young, to make a valid comparison. But lives long enough and someday, you'll be able to the younguns what it was like to live through now. :-)

One of them was sorry that the present younger generation has not done the same kind of things to protest the present war and cause national disarray as they did. How much real damage the Boomers have done to the Republic only time and history will tell

I'm sure they will be happy to know I will be giving them 1/3 of my income to pay for their retirement plan.

one of my favorite toys I got for Christmas was a full size M-16 plastic rifle that had sound effects when I pulled the trigger.

Was that the one made out of shiny metallic blue plastic with sprayed black handguards and stock? It went rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat when you pulled the trigger?

I had that one too!

Are you talking about the Russians during the "end game"?

Perhaps... but I don't know what that is???

You keep posting that bilge and you're wrong.

Obviously, you never watched, nor heard of "HARVEST OF SHAME" and that was the late '50s, nor about gangs in schools ( think that films like "THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE", another '50s item, BTW , was based in fiction ?), or gang fights in major cities, nor any of the actual facts of any time prior to now. Your coke bottle lens thick rose colored glasses need to be removed.

"Then later, these same college pukes would be the ones to deny him a job because they were afraid of hiring a war vet who might go crazy on the job or didn't like the military and wouldn't hire a vet at all."

That's interesting.

I'm just a working stiff who paints houses. Some of my best customers - with whom I have built personal relationships - are doctors and lawyers. Perhaps in a negative sense, I presumed they got their degrees as a result of staying in graduate school to avoid the draft.

They've treated me especially well. I've attributed this to their guilt about not serving during Vietnam.

Maybe some of those people your husband saw as adversaries grew up? I hope so.

Either way, I'm sorry he's not here to see the newfound respect he has earned.

Thats the one! I performed all kinds of recon missions in our basement and in our back yard with that weapon... until I moved up to BB guns.

I remember the incident but with the Vietnam War in full swing somehow I don't think it rates top billing.

As I remember, the Russians were still key players at that time - during the final days of Desert Storm. They wanted to preserve their ally - Iraq - and were influential in keeping us from destroying the fleeing Republican Guard near Basra.

The first Republican I recognized as being flamed by the MSM media for no reason. And I was a pot smoking teen at the time!

Yeah and there was soft pornography posing a sitcoms, drug deals on every corner, and hookers and street people everywhere....NOT.

I lived in Richmond Cal, and you could leave your house and car unlocked there in the early sixties.

Well good for you! See how obvious the MSM can be? Even a pot smoking teen can see through them!
