You forgot the Judean Peoples Front. :)
I hate everything equally, making it pointless to criticize Bush.
> There are conservatives who expect Pres. Bush to "fix" immigration, which no one else has tackled over all the decades. And to go against the Constitution and his own powers and change laws.
All we ask is that he enforce the laws already there, and not weaken them. And not insult those who try to help the understaffed border patrol.
I agree that slinging mud and calling fellow Conservatives "Bushies" and worse is hurtful. Even at his "worst" Bush is better than any Dimocrat. I think we all know this.
However, I do get steamed by people who insist there be NO debate, NO questioning of the President, NO discussion of ways to bring him around to a conservative way of thinking (like not playing Santa Claus with the public's money, for example). I *won't* shut up just because someone says they're conservative or Republican. They have to act like that, or I'm going to say something. And those who try to shush me are still gonna see me state my piece.
JMHO.
What flashbunny said...
They're even worse than the People's Front of Judea.
I always preferred "Bushbot", a term I freely apply to myself.
We can gripe about the President, but he is the President we have and a damn sight better than the alternatives presented.
Don't you mean the People's Front of Judea? Or are you an infidel too!
Yes, but my liberal friends tend to think I will fall in with them if they just one more time mention that they are the "smart" ones. It is a weak arguement. Verdad?
The difference is, in my opinion, that both are important to the conservative movement. We need those who keep us honest and continue the rightward movement. And we need the cheerleaders that keep us up and optimistic.
I can support the President 100% and still disagree with some of his positions. It's called life, for crying out loud. On a personal level, I have the absolute highest regard for the man and watching him challenged me to make changes in the way I approach my own lifewhich has changed it for the better.
It's the name calling that has to stop. It is destructive and hands a big giant weapon to those intent on turning this train aroundAND THEY KNOW IT.
It is as Jesus said it would be.
When one is down to cheering that a Conservative President is appointing a possible Conservative to the Supreme Court, we are in a sorry state of expectations.
The fighting over there so as to not fight them here is rubbish.
Fighting them there while creating a terrorist base in Gaza is laughable and tragic.
The only thing left that I applaud this President for are the Tax cuts- which are not permanent.
I'm gonna be really ticked off if Bush gives billions of dollars to those crooks in Louisiana, with no oversight and no strings attached.
Go read the mission statement on the home page of this website. Tell me where it mentions support for Bush. Nope, I can't see it either. I see words like "grass-roots", "independent", and "conservative" - but I can't find anything about supporting Bush.
They would maintain that their brethen have turned on the principles we all generally hold in common.
Quite frankly, I enjoy their participation, even in disagreement and am willing to put up with snide asides. As some of their willingness to accept disparaging comments about libertarian candidates and positions demonstrate that they are thick skinned as well, I guess the tolerance is mutual.
If I wanted uniform agreement, I wouldn't be participating on the internet and would be the poorer for it.
At least you know that you're liberal friends are full of it when they say that they are the smart ones.
If you want a Google GMail account, FReepmail me.
They're going fast!
"Wishful thinking I'm afraid. There is a very loud contingent right now who have a deep frustration on several issues and are unable to see beyond them."
Ah, so are you one of the people who believe that certain people here can't see the genius of karl rove and Bush's 'master plan'?
Exactly how would you classify that plan? "Return to a limited federal government by making it bigger than ever?"
Some pople rightly deserve to be called RINOs - mainly politicians. Wringing your hands on why we can't "all just get along" is, well, pollyannaish.
You get the government you deserve. If you don't hold the feet of your leaders to the fire by criticizing them when they're wrong, you're just going to get more of the same.
Accountability. That is the key.
True.
That's also a word I never use because of it's associated with antisemetism and with Chris Matthews. Also because I think it is an oxymoron as neo (new) and conservative are essentially opposites.
Personally I am more of a self-proclaimed "right winger" or even "right wing whacko" myself.
Splitters.
Schmuck Hannity has no right to wet his panties about "eating their own" after how he slammed us, a blatantly cheap ploy to draw attention to his own rather dinky (and by comparison, dusty) forum.
