Follow The Leader: DNC Chairman Begins Calling The Shots On Next Supreme Court Nominee
Republican National Committee ^ | September 29, 2005

Posted on 09/29/2005 4:56:30 AM PDT by RWR8189

DNC Chairman Howard Dean Says Be Prepared For Unprecedented Filibuster Of Next Supreme Court Nominee:

"In An Interview, [DNC Chairman Howard] Dean Said Democratic Unity Is Essential In The Upcoming Battle And That The Party 'Absolutely' Should Be Prepared To Filibuster -- Holding Unlimited Debate And Preventing An Up-Or-Down Vote -- Bush's Next High Court Nominee, If He Taps Someone They Find Unacceptably Ideological." (Dan Balz and Amy Goldstein, "Filibuster Showdown Looms In Senate," The Washington Post, 9/28/05)

Earlier In Year, Dean Said He Would Defer To Congressional Leaders On Policy Discussions:

DNC Chairman Howard Dean: "I Think Most Of The Policy Pronouncements Are Going To Be Coming From The Leadership Of The Congress, Not From Me." (ABC's "World News Tonight Saturday," 2/12/05)

"To Gain The Support Of A Democratic Establishment He Had Once Campaigned Against, Dean Pledged To Leave Legislative Discussion To Others, Including Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) And House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Both Of Whom Had Reservations About His Candidacy." (Jeff Zeleny, "Dean Takes Over Helm Of The DNC," Chicago Tribune, 2/13/05)

"Dr. Dean Delivered A Sober And Low-Key Talk To The DNC's Members On The Imperative Of More Effective Grass-Roots Organizing And Fund Raising. ... He Made Relatively Little Mention Of Policy Positions On Which He Intended To Lead The Democrats Back From Their 2004 Defeat." (Jules Witcover, Op-Ed, "Democrats' Strongest Voice Stifles Himself," The [Baltimore] Sun, 2/18/05)

Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE): "Well, In My Experience, Being In The Senate For Six Terms And Serving With Seven Presidents, No Party Chairman's Ever Made A Bit Of Difference In Terms Of The Public Perception Or Policy In Either Political Party. And That Will Be The Same Here [Dean's DNC Chairmanship]." (Fox News' "Fox News Sunday," 2/13/05)

Since Howard DEan isn't a senator and it has been repeatedly pointed out that he is not the head of the party but rather the chief fund raiser I find myself unable to care what he thinks about the next nominee.

Some groups are going to oppose the nominee no matter what (like NARAL) so their "opinion" doesn't mean much.

Can someone please put a sock in Howard Dean's mouth? Then wrap his mouth with duct tape. This little pissant is beyond belief. Now I know why he went into politics - his temperament could not permit him to be a good physician.

He actually isn't doing a good job of raising money.

You should read up on his quite, quite abbreviated medical career. He didn't have the right stuff to be a decent doctor!

He's an unstable dweeb.

As the grandson, son, spouse, and first cousin of physicians, I understand what a physician is and, more relevantly, is not. I don't really have to read about Howard Dean's medical "career" to know implicitly that he did not have the right stuff. He is, however, perfect for the "job" he currently holds - mouthpiece of the democrat party. As we all know, qualifications are not required in a party that supports affirmative action quotas.

Very true, and no qualifications are needed for plain old Marxists who are only interested in power and control, with a daily modus operandi of obstruction and troublemaking. They are nothing, they have nothing for America, they offer no solutions, just PROBLEMS which is the essence of their lying, criminal existence.

I get lots of free meds. Also, since my wife is a surgeon, I get free mole removals and such, like a colonscopy. But, when I get myself in trouble, I sleep on my stomach, as she is quite proficient with a scalpel...bobbitectomy...

So a nominee hasn't even been picked yet and Dean is already screaming about the dems gameplan for obstruction and filabustering.

I hope this does get maximum national airtime. So the entire country can see loud and clear the agenda of the democrats.

So will this be a real 24/7 filibuster or a 9 to 5 with a two hour lunch break one?

I watched him on with Koppel last night. He was not exactly coherent.

Wonder if he's partaking of uppers and downers too.
