Tom Delay has taught an important lesson today and I hope the White House Communications Office was listening.

Lesson: When you get bad press, get in front of the story and defend yourself...immediately. Sad to say, the WH Communications Office is always a "day late and a dollar short" when it comes to defending the President. Bush needs a war room. You don't wait three days to answer charges. You answer them within the same news cycle, as Delay did today. Dan Bartlett, are you listening?

Yes, I did see the Hume/Delay interview. Hume, as usual, did an exceptional job. Later, Delay was on Hardball and his lawyer appeared on Larry King Live and Greta's show. Again, this is how it's done.

Did you read Ann Coulter's latest column? Ouch. She nails Bush on the fact that he's been supporting RINOS vs. true conservatives (example: Specter vs. Toomey). Dear Prez and Staff: It's time to grow some backbone and stand up for conservative principles. The pragmatism has got to go. W is looking more like his dad every day.

FOX News has been flamming Ronnie Earle all day.

Earle has already blown the case, if there was any.
He's compromised himself by speaking at a Dem fund raiser about sinking the Republican party and about his charges against DeLay. Earle also tried to burn Texas Sen. Kay Baily Hutchinson. He's a Dem hit man. Delay's case should get tossed...fast.
