Amazing news. My unit has it's first female in flight school right now.
The real surprise here is that LTC McSally made quite a stir some years ago fighting against Islamic dress for military women stationed in Saudi Arabia. Guess bygones are bygones.

The first female fighter squadron commander recently took her A-10 unit from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, AZ, into combat. Excuse me, but the A-10 is an attack aircraft, not a fighter, so wouldn't that be the first female *attack* squadron?

That good news.
I though the "plan" was to retire A-10s and replace their ground suppot role with F-16s. I don't think I'd want to be low and slow over my target in an F-16.
