Are they still planning on retiring the A-10 soon. I hope not.

Nope, my unit will be retiring its F-16's and tradin' 'em in for A-10's as a result of the BRAC.

Last I heard the A-10's amazing performance in the Iraq war saved it from the scrapheap. I sure hope that's the case. As far as I'm concerned it's the best close air support fighter ever built!

The F-22 is supposed to be the fighter aircraft of the future and also is designated to replace the A-10. But the A-10 is being fought for by numerous military advisors who want to keep the aircraft due to the fact that it can "kick ass" with the best of them and is still a preferred aircraft for many Air Force pilots.
