David Dreier Is New House Majority Leader?

Posted on 09/28/2005 12:35:16 PM PDT by alessandrofiaschi

That is because Tom Delay has now been indicted by a Democratic District Attorney in Texas. From Fox News.

Rep. Tom DeLay said he would temporarily step down as House majority leader on Wednesday after he and two political associates were charged by a Texas grand jury with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme.

House sources said Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill, would recommend Rep. David Dreier of California to take over DeLay’s majority leader duties. There is some talk that the Republican leadership in the House has been preparing for this eventuality.

Probably not what Tom Delay was hoping for…to say the least….

Congressman McHenry (R-NC) just said on Fox News that Speaker Hastert requested Roy Blount to serve temporarily as House Majority Leader. According to McHenry, the request came at a meeting of the GOP House Conference.

Jumping the gun a bit, aren't you?

The ML is elected by the party caucus, not the House speaker.

They vote tomorrow night.

Ronnie Earle is trying to send a message that the Democrats are not a dead party in Texas.

However, the National Democrat party is in such radical disarray many former Democrts in Texas are ashamed to be a member.

Texas Democrats have not yet heard that their party has been over taken by abortionists, anti-American extremists, and radical America haters.

He was on Bill Maher's show recently wearing a pin-striped suit that would have looked better on Michael Jackson (or Richard Simmons). He also spent most of his appearance arguing that there was no excess government spending, that the deficit spending was justified based on current economic performance, and the real solution to cutting spending was eliminating "waste, fraud and abuse".

Apart from the fact that he's rumored to be gay and has lived with his Chief of Staff for a number of years...I don't know much else. Not good that this is the only thing I can remember about him.

So who knows this Dreier guy?

Have you lived under a rock for the past ten years? Dreier has had PLENTY of face time on talking head shows and was the Chair of GOPAC for quite a while.

From what I understand, he is the typicaly California Republican . . . pretty conservative fiscally, more of a moderate on social issues.

DREIER?

Oh God, there goes any last vestige of backbone the House GOP might have had.

Expect amnesty for illegal aliens and worse out of this buffoon.

If that's true, expect Larry Flynt to crawl from the slime within a day or two.

He's one of the new "big government conservatives" that seem to be growing in DC under Bush.

He's also been a major supporter of Bush's illegal alien amnesty scheme.
