Do you live in Texas?

I don't give a rats patootie if he has never indicted another Republican. This indictment of DeLay and Earles partisan stripes are all the "proof" I need to know he's a tool of the dim party. I guarantee you that if the idiot Repubs in the house hadn't made their weenie rule that if indicted, leadership has to step down, Earle would never have done this. He saw his chance and took it. Give a rat an inch and they'll take a mile every time. Sad that my party never learns this.

Couple of thoughts on Delay -

Ronnie Earl might be a partisan but that doesn't necessarily mean that his case is without merit. (Ken Starr prosecuted Bill Clinton - remember?)

Ronnie Earl claims that he has prosecuted 15 elected officials. 12 of them democrats and only 3 republicans. If that record is true it makes the charge of rogue partisan hard to make stick.

This isn't Delay's first time in trouble. Sooner or later people believe that smoke=fire.

In addition, many republicans in congress are not fond of Delay and think he's a drag on the party and do not like his ethics or tactics.

Is this a battle that republicans want to fight right now? And is it a battle worth fighting for this particular person?

I haven't made up my mind...just posting food for thought

Best evidence so far, and all the reason not to panic over the indictment. Doesn't prove DeLay is innocent, but it casts a shadow over Earle for certain.

Is this the same prosecutor that's been after Delay for years?

Yes. It took the prosecutor six grand juries to obtain an indictment. Five apparently refused to indict. So that tells us all we need to know, really.

You are still failing to address the orignal point. Prove your accusations against Delay. Burden of proof lies on the accuser not the accused Troll.

I have the feeling that Ronnie boy is going to find out why they call Tom DeLay The Hammer. Pin your ears back, son...

Ronnie is about to become The Nail.

Grand jury indicted DeLay looks
like a left wing conspiracy to me.

While you are making up your mind and positing opinions, I'll be fighting to protect a man from a political witchhunt. Anyone that won't do the same, I have no use for.

Tom Tancredo is a one issue and one issue only Congressman. All he ever talks about is immigration, which is not what a leader is all about. A leader is responsible for many, many important issues. I am Pro-life, but it would be stupid to put someone in leadership that just talked about abortion 24/7. I stopped listening to him a long time ago. The borders are an important issue, but not the only one,and there is no evidence that Tancredo cares about anything else.

DeLay should not have to prove his innocence, but he said he woulld regardless. Categorically and without technicalities or legaleese.

He's innocent.

The partisan hack Earle, has been after him for years and he had to go thru FIVE grand jurires to find a GJ that would indict on ONE conspiracy charge and reporters cannot find a link in the indictment to DeLay and we know most of them are scouring it...lol.

I don't think this is a big deal

WASHINGTON

A Texas grand jury on Wednesday charged Rep. Tom DeLay and two political associates with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme, forcing the House majority leader to temporarily relinquish his post. A defiant DeLay insisted he was innocent and called the prosecutor a "fanatic."

"I have done nothing wrong ... I am innocent," DeLay told a Capitol Hill news conference in which he criticized the prosecutor, Ronnie Earle, repeatedly. DeLay called Earle an "unabashed partisan zealot" and a "fanatic."

I am in the 22nd district of TX, Tom Delay's district. I can assure you unless this clears up soon he is toast. I certainly will not vote for someone under indictment.

I live in Delay's district, and as of this moment, am as enthusiastic as ever about voting for him.

No "here" meaning this specific case with this specific prosecutor who has done this before.

In fact a bar complaint agains him for the PREVIOUS time he did this to a republican would be actionable since there IS NO STATUTE OF LIMINTATION on disbarable offenses.

Anyone interested in filing a complaint against this prosecutor can go to http://www.texasbar.com
