'Dallas' Casting Heating Up (Jane Fonda Wanted to Play Miss Ellie--barf alert!)

Variety has published a report on both the all star casting for the 'Dallas' adaptation and Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond installment.

New Regency's big screen version of 'Dallas' isn't officially expected to announce casting until Sacha Gervasi turns in the rewrite, but many big name actors have already shown interest in doing the project.

Speculation now has John Travolta in the lead role of JR Ewing, but sources close to the film say that this isn't certain. Mel Gibson has not completely ruled out the job, Kevin Costner has shown reluctance until he sees the rewrite and Tommy Lee Jones name has also surfaced.

The leading candidate for Sue Ellen (played on TV by Linda Grey) is Catherine Zeta Jones, but Demi Moore and Jennifer Lopez are also contemplating.

Matthew McConaughuey and Owen Wilson are both being courted to play Bobby Ewing. (origniated by Patrick Duffy in the series)

For the role of Pamela, (played by Victoria Principal) Regency is eyeing Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon, and for young Lucy (Charlene Titlton) , talk is centering around Lindsay Lohan, Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson.

There's also chatter about Jane Fonda for Miss Ellie. (Barbara Bel Geddes)

At least she's finally resigned herself to grandmother roles. And the casting for Bobby Ewing is completely off

I think Mel Gibson would be a better Bobby Ewing, and totally wrong for the JR role.

But haven't you heard?

Hollywood's woes are due to so many people pirating their product on the internet.

It's not like their movies suck or anything.

They should go with an all midget cast for "Dallas".

A big screen version of "Dallas"? Hollywood is pathetic.

Hollywood and the Democratic party haven't had a new idea in decades.

I heard Bruce Willis was calling the producers wanting to play JR himself.

Patrick Duffy showed more acting range here than he did on Dallas.

Demi Moore as Sue Ellen would be a hoot, and you can't go wrong with Mandy Moore or Chestica Simpson as Lucy.

I'm waiting for Hollywood to make a bigscreen version of "One Day at a Time". That's when I'll know they've hit rock bottom. Should be soon.
