Rebuild below sea level?
CNBC ^ | 9-28-05 | Vote

'Squawk Box' wants to know whether taxpayers should help New Orleans reoccupy risky ground.

The federal aid that rushes in after a disaster provides an incentive for people to ignore risks from earthquakes, floods, volcanoes and wildfires.

Should taxpayer money be used to rebuild portions of New Orleans below sea level? Register your vote...

It is insanity to the hilt. Rebuild a multi-hundreds of billions project, so that it can be wiped out AGAIN. Real smart...

I have rebuilt my house next to the lava flow 10 times. It keeps burning down. Am I doing something wrong?

Whether to rebuild any parts of New Orleans below sea level is a legitimate question. But it is NOT a question that can or should be resolved by a polling question, for Pete's sake.

For an intelligent discussion of this subject, see "The Hart-Miller Future of New Orleans" here on FR, retitled "The Future of New Orleans" on Google News, etc.

Billy Tauzen's famous "Half of Louisiana is under water, the other half is under indictment."...

What about the missing bus drivers, did they exist?

Do they all vote absentee?

The FBI began investigating the New Orleans police who had abandoned their post during Katrina and of the more than 500 screened so far, 84% don't exist.

Tony Snow said, of the 1700 police working for New Orleans, maybe only 1000 really exist.

Where was that payroll money going?

We can be relatively sure it is not flood control or levee improvements.

What a gift he had!

My favorite quote from him (paraphrased) as "Go where you're wanted much little and little not at all."

Speaking of good quotes, someone last night said "While we are placing blame all around, maybe we should also blame the French for building there in the first place". I was ROTFLMAO! Too bad I was busy mopping floors and didn't see who said it...

It depends on what kind of houses you build.
More than a quarter of the Netherlands are below sea level. So they start building houses able to float.

I built a steel home one time and it melted. So I built a steet home with asbestos siding and the lava carried it out to sea. So to save money I continue to build with wood.
