Hours before New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass announced his resignation, Tony relayed some hot information he had heard from his Capitol Hill sources. It regarded an FBI investigation currently under way.

You can go to the source above and listen to that segment of his radio show.

"I've been calling it The BIG Sleazy since we moved to Texas from there in 1989."

Very catchy term. Back in '89, I bet you never would have guessed that people all over the country would pick up on it. =]

Not only were the regs insane, but a caring governor would have been signing a flurry of emergency/executive orders. I suspect that the governor spent most of her time prepping for press releases. That's where people like Bush are more effective than typical executives. More time doing his job and less time prepping for press and/or photo ops.

"...maybe Federalization isn't such a good idea..
the President can appoint a Governor and THAT person can control Louisiana better than Congress overseeing a Marion Barry type Mayor. "

Where is B.F. Butler when you need him?

But there certainly is a 'Third Worldliness' about that picture of the Mayor & Police Chief. One could easily mistake them for some Mid East or African pair of "Leaders".

How Much was being Funneled to Senator- Mary Landreau???

I wonder if this has a connection to the resignation of Eddie Compass.
If the story is true that there are non existant Police Officers on the rolls, in anything like those numbers, the scandal will be explosive. One bogus employee is too many.

Taxpayers will be less willing to shovel money into the area without massive oversight.

Eddie Compass is now a "Flight Risk"

No telling at this time, but since the Democrats wanted an investigation, and since what they thought to be a dumb cowboy wannabe was willing to take responsibility, I think we soon shall know just what the Democrats have been doing and where our money went.

My guess is that Bush will find the data being gathered for a wide array of sources from the GAO to local tips most illuminating.

Prediction: Watch as Demoroaches scuttle for cover when the light of truth hits them.

Watch as Demoroaches are crushed by the voters.

Enjoy a full measure of schadenfreude as juries convict Louisiana "power figures".

;-)

Polishing all the spoons he stole. Or, perhaps posing for the image that was used in the bottom of chamberpots.

You did not notice that in the early days of this hurricane there actually was someone involved named Ben Butler? I thought it might be some sort of sick joke.

I actually have a sneaking admiration for Ben Butler as a politician. With one concept he torpedoed slavery in the U.S., by declaring runaway slaves "Contraband of war" seizable by the U.S. government.

It has to be the FBI or othe Feds. The locals would never do it.

Since the original Tony Snow report on this, I haven't seen anything. Maybe what Tony mentioned is in progress or possibly the report is wrong.

Response times may be slow for ghost-cops, but direct deposits into a single account every payday would be quick. Remember Nagin said "I hope that he (compass) makes a lot of money."

Maybe Compass already has.

Any bets these not really there cops got paid by the bill that The Clintoons got passed to put more cops on the streets of America?
