Good to see support of board members (school board members protest David Parker rally)

Letter: Good to see support of board members Thursday, September 22, 2005

As a longtime resident of Lexington I was very proud to be a part of the outpouring of support for our schools last week. I was also pleased to see the many elected officials who stood with us.

We elect School Committee members in part to make sure the values of our community are reflected within the school system. Therefore, I was happy that all of the members of the School Committee either showed up for the Lexington C.A.R.E.S. counter-vigil on Sept. 6 or sent words of support. It was heartening to see that, along with the more than 350 residents who were present, our representatives on the School Committee are solidly behind Lexington's long-standing tradition of providing a safe and welcoming school environment for all children and the families they come from - no matter what those families look like.

See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1492539/posts for a rebuttal:

"Lexington parents expect and deserve a School Committee that is fair and impartial, that administers school policies based on the law and what is best for our children, and not a School Committee whose rulings and practices reflect their own political opinions and personal activism. Now that the bias of Ms. Cohen and Mr. Griffiths is a matter of public record, it is apparent there exists a conflict of interest in any business related to David Parker that comes before the School Committee. If the Lexington School Committee is a professional and objective body whose members consider town education matters more important than their own personal agendas we would expect that they recuse themselves from participation in these matters."

One of the personality traits of a sociopath is the ability to manufacture illusions in their mind in order to allow themselves to justify unethical and antisocial behavior. Looks as though the Lexington school committee is nothing more than a collection of sociopaths.

values of our community

As reflected in the books used to indoctrinate our kindergarteners:

All Families Are Different
on Page 14:
"...You live with two parents of the same sex. It's like having two moms or two dads."

My Two Uncles
"There is a broad definition of homosexuality as love between two adults of the same sex, like that found in a traditional marriage; Vigna further notes that gay people cannot "make" someone else gay."

Who's In A Family
on Page 11:
"... Laura and Kyle live with their two moms, Joyce and Emily, and a poodle named Daisy"
on Page 21:
"... Robin's family is made up of her dad, Clifford, her dad's partner, Henry, and Robin's cat, Sassy. Clifford and Henry take turns making dinner for their family. ..."

Thanks for the ping lex

I just found it digging back through my pings page. The power was out here for 11 days because of the hurricane. Things should be back to normal here in a week or so.

Fight the good fight!
