Charlie Rangel unfairly used the name that symbolizes hard-line Southern racism against President Bush. Bull Connor, who used fire hoses and police dogs on the civil rights workers in Birmingham was born a DEMOCRAT and died a DEMOCRAT. Bull Connor, a full fledged member of the Democrat National Committee (DNC) in 1948 led the segregationist-minded dissidents who walked out of the Democratic national convention in Philadelphia because a civil rights plank was added to the platform. As a full fledged member of the Democrat National Committee, Bull Connor was not only was a DEMOCRAT, Bull Connor was a DEMOCRAT leader. Democrats will try and paint their racist Dixiecrats as Republicans, but here is the truth. Every one of the Dixiecrats was born Democrat and died Democrat with one exception. And that exception changed parties over 15 years later. Another point to observe about yesterdays racist Democrats and todays racist Democrats. In the 1950s, the elected officials standing in the doorway of the good schools, keeping black children in inferior schools, were Democrats. Today, the elected officials opposing vouchers, symbolically standing in the doorway of a bad schools, keeping black children in inferior schools, are Democrats.
Playing the partisan card here will not move the ball much. Dems bounced white racial supremicists from its party long ago. That dog won't hunt. The Pubbies played ball with them a bit, but when blakcs got the vote, that game largely stopped later on. I don't like playing this card really. It is dishonest.

This is the same guy that said or military was targeting women and children in Iraq.
When did he die? The Alabama newspapers and TV and radio never said a word about our top Democratic racist passing away. Or did I blink and just miss it??
"There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public.
"Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs - partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to to lose their jobs...
"There is a certain class of race problem-solvers who don't want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

"Dems bounced white racial supremicists from its party long ago. "
Never heard of the clintons I take it....
Ooops. Never mind. Found it...in an encyclopedia...didn't get much press coverage, I guess...
Theophilus Eugene "Bull" Connor (11 July 1897 10 March 1973) was a police official in the Southern United States during the American Civil Rights Movement and a staunch advocate of racial segregation. He was a Democrat and a delegate to the 1948 Democratic National Convention [1].
Connor was born in Selma, Alabama.
As the Public Safety Commissioner of Birmingham, Alabama in the 1960s, he became infamous for using fire hoses and police attack dogs against unarmed, nonviolent protest marchers. The spectacle of this being broadcast on national television helped to catalyse major social and legal change in the South and helped in large measure to assure the passage by Congress of the Voting Rights Act of 1965; so ironically Connor's tactics helped to bring about the very change that he was opposing.
In 1963, civil rights leaders staged "Project Confrontation" in Birmingham against the police tactics used by Connor and his subordinates (and, by extension, other Southern police officials). The goal of this movement was to cause mass arrests and subsequent inability of the judicial and penal systems to deal with this volume of activity. The short-term effect only increased the level of violence used by Connor's officers, but in the long term the project proved largely successful, as noted above.
Hannity didn't even mention that fact the "Everybody Knows"... Democrats comparing Bush to Connor IS a Democrat and Hannity broadcasts their outrageous statements and he doesn't even comment on "Bull" Connor the DEMOCRAT...
He's a MORON!
I'd be more than happy to see that piece o' crap mythology go down in flames. What else would the rat party have for a patron saint except for an empty myth.
