Republicans Ready for a Fight It has no been almost one year since the Republican Party received a huge mandate in the 2004 elections. The results: NOTHING. Not entirely nothing as some issues have progressed, but in moral and social issues we have gotten nowhere. By now you are probably either asking your self why or answering that question in you head. For those of you that might be a little bit behind, or are just preoccupied, here is the answer: Republicans in Congress and the White House are playing political games. With the exception of nominating Judge Roberts, President Bush is not pushing the issues we want to fight for: social security, school vouchers, Medicare and Medicaid cuts, less business restriction and tax reform. And neither are the Republicans in Congress, they are carefully stepping through the mine field not wanting to start a war. Well its time for that to end. We have been sitting hear for almost a year waiting and waiting. Our guns poised to fire and ready to fire, but no command has come down. No leader has taken charge and President Bush seems to be overly busy with other work. The Republican Party has fight in it, it just needs to be put to use, someone needs to light the fuse, and we need to stop wasting the precious months and years. Lets Roll.
I didn't say I didn't like the guy.
I did ask how he used that political capital he mentioned in january. It's gone now, in case you didn't notice.
So what has he done besides alienate much of the electorate?
I understand he wants to increase foreign aid too. That one blew me away.
Who is J. Dunn?
The rank and File is ready to fight, but most of the Cowards in Washington DC should be relieved of Command.
We need leaders. Strong ones, one's who are not afraid to get their nose bloodied and who will get back on their feet and charge back in.
Not the spineless bastards that seem to infest the upper echelon of this party.
We don't control every branch of government, not yet, the judicial is still fairly liberal
Yes on the Foriegn Affairs side we have made progress but at home, What? sure no tax hike, is that progress. I am sad to see fellow conservatives settling for that. Come on we can get EVERYTHING we want and NOW.
If you are active now in government, than great, but if not you need to be and that is the point of this.
it all boils down to the next SCOTUS nominee and if he gets confirmed, if he is not a true conservative, if the GOPers in the senate don't have the cujones to make sure that he or she is seated, then they will be in trouble not from the moderates but from within in the 2006 election, it is time for all of us to wake up and make sure our elected GOP officials are held accountable (for a variety of reasons, i think they read the nytimes and washpost too much, they are under the impression that the left and the moderates hold the key, not the right).
JMHO
We need to be about fighting back instead of wringing our hands and BLAMING BUSH. Honest to God, I wouldn't blame the guy if he resigned and took Cheney with him. Then everyone could try to rally around Denny Hastert.
Ping me when you post your rant. I am loaded for bear!!
J. Dunn is me
Spoken like a loser.
Sorry, but I enjoy rubbing victory in the face of my enemies, as it demoralizes them. No need to put a limit on it.
We have as our enemy an opponent that cannot tell the truth about themselves, or risk further defeat. They cant even talk about who they really are. Their media cannot report reality. Their news people make $hit up. Their foot soldiers have to have fake organizational names. They cant do anything truthful and win.
I call that victory.
Now, I just returned from killing lots of wild animals in Alaska and eating them. Every bite was a win against some effed-up liberal. I loved every minute of it.
Then I come back here, and FReepers are bitching again about some trivial crap. We won, people. Get over yourselves.
Bush traveled all over the country trying to get support for his social security reform... and got no where. The public did not support it. The media and the left managed to shape public opinion.
Let me give you a tiny clue about how the real world works. When the economy is good and jobs are plentiful and wages are pretty good .... voters want nothing changed. Propose any sort of economic change and the voters will reject it. And they will let you know that changes will not be tolerated at the polls. Elected officials of both parties are reluctant to do things the voters don't want done. It is dangerous to their political health.
The Democrats socialist pitches did nothing in the 1920s. Times were good and public wanted nothing changed. However, when the depression came the voters wanted things fixed. They wanted change and would vote and support the man who offered change. That man was FDR.
The inflation and economic stagnation of the Carter years allowed Reagan to make changes. But once things were going good after 1984 the public would not support Reagan's proposed changes.
Things were good during the Clinton administration and Hillary care could not get off the ground. It matters not which party is in power. If the economy is good the public will not allow change.
It takes bad or unsettled times to make changes in our economic programs. When things are going good voters will not support economic policy changes. Both Democratic and Republican congressmen and senators can read the polls and they do listen to voters. They will not do what the public does not want done.
So many people just don't understand that we have a government " of the people, by the people, and for the people." Some of us have a great deal of trouble understanding how voters react to stimulus.
Got a "gimme money" letter from RNC today wanting to know why I'm not "contributing like I used to" ... wrote across the form to be sent back ... "because you guys aren't the ones I bought the last time, and I'm going to be a little more careful in what I purchase ... so I'll see what you do about borders, judges and the like, then maybe I'll send you another check. Otherwise, my money goes to those who are looking out for ME."
I am working to let our elected leaders know what we want. I am not blaming Bush that is the farthest thing from my mind. Why he seems to be not very active I dont know, but that is not his job. That is our job, but we need to someone to lead us. Someone to tell us where to direct our fire, and I dont see that person right now. If someone does let me know so I can research and probably support him/her.
Jus bean lirking here four a whyl. Eye lyke yer style ov spellink with "your."
Old and counterproductive.
Constructive criticism is one thing. Bitching and moaning just to prove how smart and independent you are is another. I wish someone would take the time to list all the things that have gone our way in the last 20 years.
We are on the cusp of actually settling in for the long haul...and there are impatient people who are willing to just toss it away, because they started to see the trees instead of the forest. To mix about fifty metaphors.
There is really nothing to fire at right now. Next time you want to complain, find a liberal and ask them if they are happy. If they say yes, then complain. Happy hunting.
Micheal Brown earned my respect today. It was nice to see a man go down fighting.
He did an especially good job of slapping the press around.
BTW, after your Fair Weather Soldiers vanity, I had not had a chance to listen to Laura Ingram. I did this morning. Your disappointment with her is well placed. Pandering comes to mind.
I completely agree with you, the strides made in the past 20 years are great, but why stop. Hey, I am just in favor of accelerating our pace, but if this is just slowing you down than don't pay any attention to me.
Are you outraged at the press? I am!! Call talk radio! Write letters! Call your congressman! Call the RNC and tell them to cut Chris Shays off from any campaign money!
Put a bumper sticker on your car if you don't have one! Do not apologize...berate the democrats for their corruption and incompetence!!
There, is that enough? Will that keep you busy for a while? We do not need a leader! We HAVE a leader, and he is called the President of the United States, and it is our job to defend him! The man puts in long days, is under threat of death every damn day, has given up his privacy and simple pleasures, is under attack constantly from the vilest members of our society, and still he soldiers on. And YOU think we need a leader? For shame!!!
Get off your butt and follow the leader you have!
