Daughter of lesbian couple expelled By Mason Stockstill, Staff Writer ONTARIO - A Chino couple plans to picket a Christian school in Ontario on Monday because officials expelled their daughter after learning her parents are lesbians. Tina Clark said the superintendent of Ontario Christian High School gave her a letter explaining that 14-year-old freshman Shay Clark was being kicked out because her parents' sexual orientation is "inconsistent with a positive Christian life style." "My sexual orientation should have nothing to do with her getting an education," Tina Clark said. "I'm the one that's gay. My daughter's not. Why should her civil rights be infringed?" Shay was crushed by what happened earlier this week, which she said came as a surprise. "I knew that I might have problems," Shay said. "But I never thought it would go that far." Principal Tim Hoekstra and Superintendent Len Stob did not return repeated calls Thursday and Friday seeking comment. Phone calls to several school trustees also were not returned. Clark and her partner, Mitzi Gray, have been together for 22 years. They didn't expect Shay would experience discrimination at the school because her older sister had attended Ontario Christian schools from sixth through ninth grade. Additionally, Shay said her friends knew she lived in a home with two mothers, and "it was never a problem." On Tuesday, however, that changed. Gray said when she went to an unrelated parent meeting that Clark was unable to attend, school administrators were confused by her different last name. The next day, both women were called in and asked point-blank if they were gay, Clark said. When they said they were, Shay was expelled. "These are the same people that patted me on the back the Friday before that and asked me how my week had gone," Clark said. The family's situation is not unusual, said Johnny Chagolla of the Rainbow Pride Youth Alliance, a gay-rights organization in San Bernardino. Often, he said, students at religious schools are more likely to face discrimination. "In cases like this, there's a concern," Chagolla said. "A lot of (religious school officials) say they're very open and affirming, and then you see this, and it contradicts what they're saying." A similar situation arose earlier this year at a Catholic school in Costa Mesa, when parents pressured administrators into barring gay parents after a gay couple enrolled their twin sons at the school. Ontario Christian is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church, a denomination that considers homosexuality a "condition of disordered sexuality," according to the Web site of the Christian Reformed Church of North America. The church considers the act of homosexual sex to be a sin, which "must be condemned as incompatible with obedience to the will of God as revealed in scripture." However, according to the group's Web site, the church should help gay Christians and "give them support toward healing and wholeness." As the family gathered outside the school for a news conference Friday, students and staff peered at the scene out of the windows. Receptionist Cory Overstreet said administrators would not be available to comment. According to the letter signed by Stob, school officials were not aware of Clark and Gray's relationship at the time Shay was admitted. But both women said that question was never asked, and that both of their names were included in all of the required paperwork. "Had we known they were against homosexuality, we would never have sought this school out," Gray said. "It wasn't like we announced it to the world, but it wasn't a secret, either. We've always been a family." Shay's educational future is unclear. At first, Clark had hoped there was a way Shay could return to Ontario Christian. But now, no one in the family backs that idea. The family is looking for another private school Shay can attend, but the admissions process is typically long, and she might not get in anywhere this year. Public school will probably be the answer for now, Clark said. After she gets to a new school, the family may consider legal action, Clark said. The expulsion was difficult for Shay, who said she is upset about being separated from her friends. As for the school's leadership, "They should be embarrassed," Shay said. - Mason Stockstill can be reached by e-mail mason.stockstill@dailybulletin.com , or by phone at (909) 483-9354
Women plan to protest outside Ontario Christian school
Thank you for the link.
Off to bed. Sleep well all, it was enlightening for me.
Walkingfeather.
Night! :)
Tell me, how exactly did this girl 'pay'? What emotional torture are you assigning to her?
Whatever it is, is it worse than if the school admitted her and necessarily disparaged her parents with Christian teachings that condemn homosexuality, co-habitation out of wedlock, and teach that her 'parents' lifestyle is "evil" and offends God?
Is the 'heavy price' the girl is now paying because of the 'callousness' of the school worse than the price she'd pay at the hands of her peers who are ALL being taught that homosexuality is a grave sin and an outrage against God that "cries to heaven for vengeance"? What kind of tormenting comments would this scenario elicit from the girl's peers? Where would she fit in in an environment that proclaims her 'parents' are doing evil and fight against what her 'parents' are doing? What kind of confusion would this poor kid have to suffer?
Is this school, with its Christian teachings and its strict enrollment rules regarding the family unit the appropriate environment for this girl? What do they do when it comes time to ask the class to write what they've learned about homosexual perverts living together? If the girl defends it she necessarily gets flunked because she has learned nothing from the school's teachings. If the girl rips homosexuality for the twisted lifestyle it really is, what does this do to her relationship with her lesbian 'parents'? What does it do to the girl's sense of loyalty to her 'parents', or for that matter, loyalty to God?
I cannot undertand why you are not absolutely shredding her contemptable 'parents' for putting this child in such a terrible and dangerous situation in the first place.
Thanks, Bonaparte.
STATEMENT OF OCS SUPERINTENDENT
Thank you for your inquiry regarding a student that had been enrolled at Ontario Christian School. The student is not attending Ontario Christian, as the family does not meet admissions criteria. The ministry of Ontario Christian is to promote discipleship of Jesus Christ as defined by the Bible and consistent with historical Christianity. The school forms a voluntary partnership with parents who seek the same discipleship. Therefore, the school requires that at least one parent be a confessing Christian and active in the local Christian church. In this case, the parent does not meet the criteria by participating in a homosexual relationship. We regret that this relationship was not disclosed at the time of admission, as that information would have prevented enrollment and the occasion for misunderstanding. The mission of Ontario Christian School is to provide for the children of Christian parents a Biblically-based, quality education that nurtures students to grow in knowledge, conviction and maturity; therefore, our focus is to equip students with the vision and skills to engage all relationships and culture under the authority of Jesus Christ.
-- 1 Corinthians 5:9-11
Jesus turned nobody away, He came into the world to call everyone to Him. The choice to remain with Him or walk away is all ours.
Absolutely so, I have no reason whatsoever to think they did not pray hard on this tragic situation that the girl's callous 'parents' created to advance the homo agenda.
Who are you to say that Heaven's answer isn't the one the school gave? The school has strict rules for admission, they should back off those rules no more than God will back off His.
The lesbians were deceivers who camouflaged their lifestyle on the enrollment form to gain entry for their 'daughter'. These lesbian women should have been upfront and honest about their 'lifestyle' right from the start and none of this would have happened. Deciept won't get you into Heaven, and thankfully it won't get you into Christian school either.
you hit it right on the gay noggin. what these model citizens of the new america wanted is exactly what they got. they could care less about how badly they abuse these kids, after all, they call the female population breeders, just like cows at a farm. now you will see the immense resources of evil in the form of huge lawfirms coming to their aid, just watch. dont only look at the lead lawyers name, he/she will have resources unimaginable available to him/her. btw, im sure my tax dollars will somehow be used by our depraved country to prosecute this church, and no im not a member of said church.
I wouldn't be surprised if the rainbow boys were right now drawing up their briefs (so to speak).
The USSC recently decided that the Boy Scouts of America cannot be coerced into an association with homosexuals, since the BSA is a private expressive association and to do so would violate its right to freedom of association.
Similarly, OCS is a private expressive association which cannot be coerced into an association with homosexuals -- specifically, they cannot be coerced into associating with homosexual parents in a business arrangement. Accordingly, OCS is well within its rights to refuse checks from Gray and Clark, to refund monies already paid and to end what they deem an unsatisfactory association.
Its the freedom of association for the school to kick the daughter of lesbians out of Ontario Christian School.
Even though the daughter of lesbians is actually heterosexual and the couple wanted to give her a christian oriented education, it would probally be better for them to find a liberal non orthodox private school.
Oops, maybe I should just say repulsed.
Well. It's a private school...
Having said that though, I'm not sure why the religion, race or sexual orientation of family members would be criteria for expelling a pupil. It seems like the pupil's conduct and achievement should be the sole basis.
Again, it's a private school- they can do what they want. But that also means they could expel a child for having a white mother and black father.
"My sexual orientation should have nothing to do with her getting an education," Tina Clark said. "I'm the one that's gay. My daughter's not. Why should her civil rights be infringed?"
Another setup. And in Canada private groups do not have more rights than lesbians.
I may not agree with it but that is their prerogative.
It does not matter. If the girl was allowed to stay in school-knowing the family situation. The school is giving tacit approval of the homosexuality to the other students. Apparently, Mom decided to come out of the closet with this girl, but kept quiet when the older girl was in the school. This is merely pushing an agenda and using her own daughter to do it. The school where I live will not accept the children of couples who live together-sexual sin is sin...period.
"My sexual orientation should have nothing to do with her getting an education,"
..and it won't, at a taxpayer funded school where this EMBRACE this behavior.

The mommies knew the admission policy before enrollment.
If they signed off on it, they bore false witness. This story begins and ends with what these women have done to this poor girl. All the school did was enforce their policy. It's a private school!
Dan, have you been following this story at all?
