The Sanctity of Life
Here Today, Gone Tomorrow (Lunatic Nazi Alert!!!)

During the next 35 years, the traditional view of the sanctity of human life will collapse under pressure from scientific, technological, and demographic developments. By 2040, it may be that only a rump of hard-core, know-nothing religious fundamentalists will defend the view that every human life, from conception to death, is sacrosanct.
In retrospect, 2005 may be seen as the year in which that position became untenable. American conservatives have for several years been in the awkward position of defending a federal funding ban on creating new embryos for research that prevents U.S. scientists from leading an area of biomedical research that could revolutionize the treatment of many common diseases. When they are honest, conservatives acknowledge that giving up some medical advances is simply the price to be paid for doing the right thing.

This where the Terri Schiavo case has rung a warning bell. If the value of human life is not absolute, it is simply a matter of time before every one's life becomes insecure. We're already sliding down the slopes of moral barbarism and Singer's particular ethics will simply get us there faster.

I doubt that idiot even realizes it is Nazi philosophy.
Then again, Peter Singer has signed onto *ahem* stranger things.
I don't think the deomgraphic data is in tune with reality, either. The fastest growing demographics in America are pro-life. The axis of political control has been shifting southward and westward for decades.

This author is a wack job. He may know the weather but he
doesn't know the time. there are about to be literally tens
of millions of baby boomers facing their mortality. Where
will they turn to assuage thier fear....could it be Church?
The stem cell debate will eventually allow the research to
be funded with public money. But to then say that the life
position will be abandoned is the a fantasy.
Put down the crack pipe and back away.......

More of a Communist philosophy also. The State will determine who is worthy of treatment, etc. It's already happening in Europe.

Is this the guy from Peter, Paul, and Mary??
I thought he was dead.
Werll, I guess I was partially correct - his brain appears to have died, but the mouth keeps moving.

No, not from Peter, Paul & Mary. Sadly, he's from Australia. Thankfully he's no longer here.
I've debated him in the past on radio & television and can vouch for the fact he is a TOTALLY lost cause!

Singer would probably rail against the 'Islamofascists' who are entering Europe to replace the missing children. The 'war of civilizations' is being fought in the bedroom.

Moral Absolutes ping.
I am helping Little Jeremiah out with this list for a few days.
IMHO, the position that conservatives MUST take today is to educate as much of the public as possible about the evils of the Culture of Death's eugenics agenda. A huge segment of our population (the Baby Boomers) are quickly approaching their senior years and if things continue as they are going, many of them will find themselves being killed off as inconvenient "useless eaters."

It's a bit like Orwell's 1984 - the original leaders of the revolution got purged!!

I've heard about that book, I'll have to keep an eye out!!
Of course, when it comes to eugenics, The Book to read in the dystopian genre is Huxley's Brave New World!
