"... install either ZoneAlarm ...

MoJo, I have read tons of FReeper posts that have supported ZoneAlarm.

"My experience" with ZoneAlarm has not been the greatest.

I've tried ZoneAlarm on 98SE, WINME, W2K, and W2KPro systems. In all attempted applications, ZoneAlarm seemed to slow the system down so much that I finally ended up deleting it.

It could be that the systems I tried to apply it to were already borderline on resources.

I have long since then installed a cable router with a built-in firewall, without any problems.

Just my personal, nonprofessional guess, perhaps ZoneAlarm utilizes too much memory?

Good morning, Everyone. Good morning to our

Military, our Allies and their families.

Thank you, Canteen Slacker, Gummy and El Gran, for preparing the Canteen for today's activities. BTW.......

WOOHOO. I got a link to a Paint Shop Pro tutorial!!! I thought I was going to have to buy the "Paint Shop Pro for Dummies" the next time I went to Borders.

Hey, Ma............it's

Do you know where your kidz are?

I'm not going to be able to be my witty self at the Canteen today. I am very busy. But, be warned, talking about me as if I am not here would be fatal! You see, I still lurk

Looks like me and the kitties are not going to have many more days we can lounge at the beach. Going to have to make the best of it before winter sets in. (a beachy fantasy).

YooHoo.....all lurkers and newbies.......

Now, I'm off.......

But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!

Now remember, the Canteen is

So, come on in and sit for a while. There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM

Man Takes Citizenship Oath, Wins Lottery

Sep 27, 4:07 AM (ET)

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A man who immigrated from Kenya to the United States found prosperity beyond his expectations on the day he became a U.S. citizen.
Shortly after Moses Bittok, of West Des Moines, took the oath of citizenship on Friday, he discovered he had a $1.89 million winning ticket from the Iowa Lottery's Hot Lotto game.
"It's almost like you adopted a country and then they netted you $1.8 million," Bittok said Monday as he cashed in his ticket. "It doesn't happen anywhere - I guess only in America."

Bittok said he took the citizenship oath at the federal building in Des Moines Friday then went shopping with his family. They stopped at a gas station to check his lottery ticket from the Sept. 21 drawing.
"For some reason, I'm calm," he said. His wife, Leonida, screamed.

Bittok, 40, an officer at the Iowa Correctional Institute for Women in Mitchellville, said he doesn't know exactly what he will do with his winnings, but a college fund for the couples 4-year-old daughter, Mindy, is top priority.
Bittok chose to receive his winnings in 25 annual payments of about $52,920 after taxes.

He came to the U.S. to attend college in Minnesota, then moved to Iowa to take the job at the women's prison.
He had purchased the winning ticket at a West Des Moines grocery store, where he once worked part time.

Hot Lotto tickets are sold in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, South Dakota and West Virginia.

I am very computer literate, but not up to date on memory.

Back in 1997, I could tell exactly what kind of memory i was looking at by reading the chipset imprints. I knew how each bit was handled and even got into the engineering of memory. Then everything changed.

I started doing programming and left he hardware behind. Now, I have no idea what any of the RAM memory types are, or how they work. Can you list the progression of RAM memory? Could you give a couple lines that explain why it was introduced over what was currently offered at the time it was introduced? Can you provide links where I can get down to the engineering knowledge of how it works?

Thanks in advance.

I hope this is the right place. Thanks in advance for any help. Just installed a new ASUS board, A8V Deluxe and an AMD Athlon 64 processor ( 3500+ ), 2 Gig RAM.

Now have 3 problems, after working out the rest. Googled several pages on each, no suggestions helped.

1) In safe mode, only get black screen with the words "safe mode" in every corner.

2) Just after start up, I get a "Work Offline" box. Have DSL. Tried every setting but it doesn't seem to be dial up, LAN, Outlook, or file settings causing it.

3) Have Adware I can't get rid of, VirtuMonde. All files and registry settings that the help site suggest don't exist on my computer.
