(CBS) CBS News correspondent Gloria Borger reports that Michael Brown, who recently resigned as the head of the FEMA, has been rehired by the agency as a consultant to evaluate it's response following Hurricane Katrina.
? Was he hired to be in charge? C'mon.
The MSM won't be happy until Brown is a homeless destitute. And why? Because he's a friend of President Bush's.
Sounds like plenty of people in this thread are with them.
Brown had 164 emergency responses more than you befre Katrina.
I've yet to see anything terribly wrong done by FEMA during Katrina other than the usual small glitches that occur in any organization except, perhaps, our military.
Being held up by constitutional and congressional/state legislation induced red tape is not a "sin" on the part of Brown or FEMA. It's a sin of incompetant leadership on the local/state level and Big Government in General.
YEP!
Kind of hard for FEMA to do their job when the Governor BLOCKED them from coming in the state
Newbie, you don't have enough on the ball to critique Brown's quals.
If you hadn't so ignorantly swallowed the MSM's stuff, you'd have known that Brown was with FEMA since 2001 and had 164 emergency responses prior to Katrina.
And you've had how many? And you've been involved in exactly what kind of contingency operations?
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Well, he successfully handled a number of hurricanes in the past with better prepared local and state officials. I hope he got a raise. The witchhunt by the media before the facts were known is criminal.
What will that shingle say? "Critics R Us" maybe?
"If we want your opinion, we'll ask for it"
And, depending how you look at it, its very Clintonian. Unless, of course, Brown stays alive.
(Half) Joking aside, exteremly stupid in the opinion of this conservative that just happens to vote republican.
>> what is stupid is weakkneed sissy folk who griped about FEMA's response <<<
Amen! I am astonished at the number of Freepers that still believe the MSM's slander of Brown. Some are still implying he was inexperienced. Yet, at the time Katrina arrived Mike Brown was probably the most experienced organizer of disaster relief efforts for hurricanes and tropical storms on the planet.
So none of us can judge Brown's performance because we haven't been head of FEMA?
Does that mean none of us can judge the president's, Congress', or a governor's or mayor's performance?
And of the 160+ previous disasters, do those make Brown a success in light of Katrina? Isn't that like saying that my gas tank is a success when I drive it 151 times and for 150 times it's fine, but then it explodes on no. 151? Sure, that's a failure rate of less than 1%, but not many people will want to buy that car.
The real question should be: Why does Bush keep giving the Dims and MSM reasons to make him look bad? These self-inflicted wounds are enough to drive any Republican crazy!
The blame lies with Blank-O and Nagin.
It wasn't only the MSM/DEMS that turned on Brown/FEMA for a scapegoat to disguise Blanco/Nagin's incompetance.
Some "Republicans" and "Conservatives" were leading the charge as well.
Some, I assume, because they don't understand how FEMA is meant to function nor the hold ups puts on them by Local/state. Others, because they were terrified of the MSM witchhunt and that Bush might go down, that their credibility might go down...so they wanted to toss him overboard.
If some one wishes to make the case where Brown royally screwed up and we should delight in his head being chopped off, make the case. I'm open to it. So far, no one has made a convincing one that I have seen. Most of their complaints are either untrue or a result of the state/local blocking FEMA. I refuse to hold them accountable for not being there when they were blocked by law.
No, just people who say idiotic things like you.
I have REPEATEDLY challenged people to list the specific shortcomings of Brown and FEMA in their response and I have not seen a single poster respond with anything but unfounded vague opinions.
Sooo....what EXACTLY did Brown and FEMA do wrong? Hmmmmmmm???
If Brown had qualifications before he was appointed head of FEMA and he had performed well during Katrina, he'd still be in charge. Unless of course, you think the President backed down to MSM pressure.
