I remember election night 1980, and the early news that Bayh, Sr., had gone down to defeat in IN signaled a likely Republican sweep nationwide, except for the then Democrat gerrymandered U.S. House.

Sorry if I missunderstood your post. I though you meant that the people from Indiana are sheep for electing him, if so which it looks like it is not, then I am sorry ;)!

Bayh is also a good two faced liar. That probably has a lot to do with things. He has his Indiana face and his DC face.

How liberal can he be? Well, aside from the fact that his father, Birch Bayh, saved Ted Kennedy's life in a plane crash and has been best friends with him ever since, Evan Bayh voted against the PBA ban, against impeachment, against Condi Rice, and now against Roberts.

He TALKS moderate when in Indiana. When in DC he votes left.

He gets elected because the largest paper and the local TV stations support him, and he runs gauzy "home town values" commericals with his pretty wife and his twin sons.

He is a fraud, and he needs to be stopped in the primaries. I will cross over and vote against him in Indiana, but our primary is late and won't make much difference. Crossover states like Michigan should be planning strategies to take him down.

Thank you, it's good to know. I guess I haven't taken too much interest in him while I lived in Indy. Moved to kook land (CA) recently, and it's much more clear who the lefties are here.

So called "moderate" rats only get elected on tv or in a rat written novel. In real life they crash and go boom.

Nobody really knows what Evan is like, other than being a very dull speaker. Between his father, Birch [who also ran an extremely forgettful campaign for the presidential nomination a number of years ago], and his California cheerleader wife, Evan has not crafted an original thought of his own in decades.

It doesn't mater what Bayh does, he has no shot. Hell, Hillary is too conservative for many lefties. They probably think this guy is a NAZI!

Fyi!

I am making it a personal objective to get the word out on this creep. Truly, I believe he is vacuous, totally empty headed, ambitious, yes, honorable, NO!

The current senator is Birch Evans Bayh III (born 1955). His father was born in 1928 and is evidently still alive and well (a Google search turned up an Indiana University press release from 2004 about some event he was going to speak at). The only Birch Bayh in the Social Security Death Index is the grandfather Birch E. Bayh (born 1893, died 1971).

Both of Evan's parents were on the small plane which crashed in 1964 and injured Teddy Kennedy's back (the pilot and one passenger were killed).

Indiana hasn't done well with Presidential candidates since Benjamin Harrison. Wendell Willkie lost to FDR in 1940. Evan should aim for the vice presidency--there were two from Indiana in the 20th century (Thomas Marshall and Dan Quayle), and he might be up to that job.

Yep.

Especially if he gets a backbone. He could be formidable.

The pantywaist Charlie. Only slightly less odious than Dick Swett.
:(
When it comes primary time, I'll vote for anyone who runs against pantywaist Charlie.

Don't worry - by the time Senator Clinton is through with him he won't know which way is up.

Do not fret. Bayh will be no problem for us in 2008. He is as bland as unsalted gravy. BORING!

I don't know about his being no problem, he definitely is more "palatable" (i.e., more likable) than Kerry or Gore. But I grant the guy IS a big bore--a cardboard cutout, a Stepford husband.

In a Presidential race, I sincerely doubt Evan Bayh would carry his own state. With the exception of Gary, central Indianapolis, and maybe parts of Jeffersonville and Evansville, Democrats generally are held in contempt (and at best distrusted) by most Hoosiers.

Maybe that's why we Hoosiers are more free than residents of the surrounding states.

"Bayh's vote verifies his plans for 2008"

He doesn't care about getting people of good character into our highest offices...he was against Miguel Estrada, I will NEVER forget that. Ever.

And now, he demonstrates the typical girlie man that is today's democrat...hillary has his balls and he is too afraid to reclaim them.

Bayh will not defeat Hillary in a primary.

No matter how hard he claims to be a new, more conservative Democrat, the voting record in the Senate suggests otherwise.

Bahahaha!! A Stepford wind up doll describes him pretty well.

He gets elected because his speeches put voters in a hypnotic trance.

He would carry the state. Hell, we voted Mitch Daniels in, and he's more liberal than Evan Bayh.
