A day in the life of President Bush (9/25/05): photos
Yahoo News Photos & WhiteHouse.gov ^ | 9/25/05

PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President arrived back at the White House this afternoon after visiting Texas and Louisiana, where he received briefings on the federal disaster response. He also met with state and local officials, and with first responders.

Late today, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco gave a short speech in which she praised President Bush for his efforts to help her state. Saying, in essence, that she would have to work with this President if she had any hope of getting boat-loads of cash, Blanco asked Congress for HUGE amounts of money to essentially rebuild her state. She wants money not just to repair stuff, but to undertake brand new projects.

We're getting rain from Rita now.

I hope that means it's moving on, and the rain will be stopping to the south.

I'm including the following photos because GWB and his father are both close to a number of professional golfers. I'm sure GWB, sports nut that he is, will be on the phone to team captain, the great Jack Nicklaus, as soon as possible to congratulate him and his team. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them invited to the WH at the earliest possible opportunity.

Chris DiMarco is hugged by teammates David Toms and Tiger Woods after DiMarco sunk his putt on the 18th to give the American team victory over the international team at the President's Cup in Gainesville, Virginia.

Chris DiMarco celebrates after dropping his birdie putt on the 18th hole to beat Stuart Appleby, of Australia, 1-up, and give the U.S. the President's Cup, 18-15 Sunday. Fred Couples delivered another magical moment. Chris DiMarco provided the clinching point with his dramatic birdie. Best of all, the Americans sent captain Jack Nicklaus into retirement as a winner.

A pretty photo of Air Force One on the tarmac at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs on Friday.

A lonely looking sillouhette of the President as he deplaned AF1 in Colorado Springs.

I know that.

But once again, they will prove that they can whine and complain, but when a real solution presents itself, they oppose it.

Vice President Cheney was released from the hospital today, about 24 hours earlier than expected. Although he walked slowly, the VP appeared reasonably comfortable. His wife, Lynne, was at his side.

The VP gets into his limo as he leaves the hospital today. Although he moved somewhat gingerly, he was doing remarkably well just a day after having surgery behind both knees.

Vice President Cheney appeared to be in excellent spirits. He had checked into the hospital just 27 hours before.

Thank you for the dose Wolfstar!

Our President is awesome!!! As he returned to the WH this afternoon, he had Marine One fly ... low ... over the rally being held to support the C in C, the troops and their mission.

The crowd went wild!!! The speaker stopped as everyone looked up wildly waving flags, signs and arms.

I just wanted to share with all of you on the dose that love and appreciate PRESIDENT Bush!

Looks like you're getting much more of the remains of Rita than we are.

We're supposed to get rain and potential T'storms through tomorrow, and then be done with it.

Some photos of the First Lady that I missed yesterday:

Phoenix Mercury guard and WNBA All-Star Diana Taurasi, right, and Golden State Warriors Baron Davis, left, who are part of the NBA's Read to Achieve program, present first lady Laura Bush with a basketball jersey at an event for the 2005 National Book Festival in the East Room of the White House Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005. The National Book Festival is an annual celebration of books and literature. (Although the AP/Yahoo caption doesn't credit her, First Lady Laura Bush started the National Book Festival in 2001. It was patterned after the Texas Book Festival.)

I really want to burn my international politics book. It has about six definitions for Bush doctrine and they all include the word "unilateral."

He still looks tired, but he's going to be OK.

Yes, he will, ohio, especially if we let him know we're behind him. I'll try to do that.

Wonder if the President and First Lady ever go one on one in b'ball wearing their spiffy new jersies? ;)

These were taken last Tuesday, before GWB departed for Gulfport, Mississippi, and New Orleans, Louisiana.

The First Lady and Weekly Reader reporter, 11-year-old Kelly Laskey of Branford, Conn., say goodbye to President Bush as he leaves the White House last Tuesday. What a treat for that youngster to get to personally interview the President and First Lady. (Is that an adoring look on the face of that little girl, or what?!)

Did everyone hear this song, today? "Bush Was Right"

YES - Live!!! It was wonderful. The crowd sang/screamed the chorus..."Bush Was Right!"

You beat me to it. I just got home and came here.
