God bless our Polish allies.
It is this is South of my country gorale I will write again
So the Polish just showed the Germans how it was done. Good for them. :-)
It means that the new governement of Poland will be for the next 4 years even more pro-American (if it is at all possible), definitely more anti-Russian, slightly more pro low taxes and free-trade economy, it will be anti-abortion and anti-gay-marriages, it will try to eradicate all leftovers of communist apparatchiks and communist political police agents in the state administration and this (very big) part of Polish economy that is partly private and partly state-owned. It means also that there will be many political conflicts in Poland, because PIS is a "neogaullist" party (which means that it doesn't especially like free market) and PO is more like the Libertarian Party in America (but a slighly more conservative on "moral" matters like abortion etc.)
Tom Daschleski is deeply saddened.
OK, so when do we start moving our bases out of Germany and into Poland?
Good news!
I hope you're right, but is the major winning party really committed to classical-liberal/small government economics?
By and large, the Catholic church is against this sort of thing, is it not?
That said, even a "big headache in Brussels" is well worth it. As is an even stronger alliance with the U.S., if that happens.
Thanks for your response.
Your very informative post is much appreciated.
All your points are cause for optimism. I especially like what you said about the new government trying to "eradicate all leftovers of communist apparatchiks and police agents in the state administration" etc. They will have their work cut out for them in this regard, at least, but it's a most worthy project. To the exent I'm able to, I will follow this new government with interest!
The Poles really seem to be great folks.
It's a world wide tread. : )
POLSKA NA WIEKI!
Long live Poland!
And long live the Kaczynski brothers
Great comeback my FRiend! : )
I saved that pic for future viewing. Thanks.
However, those don't look like traditional Krakovian dresses.
It depends on who you ask. Traditionally, the Catholic Church is against socialism and communism, since those two ideologies persecuted the Church during the 19th and 20th centuries. At the same time however, the Church is supportive of the right of workers to form unions, and the concept of a "just wage." Those two concepts are heretical to purity-minded libertarians/classical liberals, so their knee-jerk reaction is to call the Church's teachings "socialistic." Many in the Catholic hierarchy don't help the situation by supporting "liberation theology," which is Marxist-inspired. Pope John Paul II and then Cardinal Ratzinger fought against the liberation theology-types, however, while adhering to the above teachings.
