Two centre-right parties were expected to sweep to victory in Poland's general election, pushing from power ex-communists stained

These two parties appear will have a comfortable majority in the Polish parliament.
The current ruling party, the Democratic Left, a socialist party, appears to have only 11 percent or so of the vote.
Two other small parties, both populist/conservative parties also appear to have gained the five percent threshold for representation in the parliament.
This is a very strong victory for market-oriented economic policies and conservative social policies.
It is true that the socialists went into the election cripplied by curroption and scandal. This hurt their showing. But, the overwhelming victory for center-right and right-wing parties speaks well of the Polish national spirit of courage and love of freedom.
Wonderful!
I think this is awesome. The polish may be a source of a great many jokes but they are showing that they understand freedom far better than many in this country.
I PREFER CIVIC PLATFORM (PO)
Go Poland!
If only the Germans, the French and the Spanish had half of your brains and courage. If only...
Me too, I voted for them.
Senate in Poland has rather limited role and one of the future coaliton partners PO wants to abolish it.
But it seems they come short...
This election could have turned out worse, but I'd hesitate to say it's a result to get excited over. The leading party, PiS, veered in a statist/welfarist direction in order to win, if the story is to be believed.
Are you sure those are Polish folk dresses? Which region?
I'd say Kiev maybe, or Minsk? :-))))
Lech Kaczyñski - PiS leader running for President has just said on Polish TV that USA is no 1 strategic partner for Poland and that he believes strategic cooperation with US is of crucial importance to Poland. He sounded more reserved when talking about relation with European Union.
Yeah, but they had said it before they got so many cosy seats. :-)))

Maybe, but this is the lower chamber. "Senate" is normally used to describe upper chambers.
