Years ago my father was head of civil defense back home. We had a big flood that drove people out of a poor black neighborhood. They were put up in schools and other public buildings. He observed that some agency (Red Cross? Salvation Army? I don't remember) was operating a kitchen and feeding the refugees. He told me he asked why weren't some of the refugees put to work cooking and serving food. The reply was that there was no way to check them for disease, and they might spread an epidemic throughout the rest of the refugees. Made sense to me at the time. I suspect the volunteers at the Convention Center were following the same policy.

Good post Joe..I just don't know what they were thinking..The volunteers were giving their all to some people that could care less..And I am not saying all people...that were at the convention center.
