Be it movies or politics, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger likes to do things in a big way.
And we do mean Big.
Unlike past governors, who often made do with little more than a podium and a cranky P.A. system, when Arnold does an "event" -- be it filling a pothole, staging a town hall meeting or just saying a few words about Nobel laureates at UC Berkeley -- it's usually a four-star production.
A costly one.
In the first six months of the year, campaign records show that Schwarzenegger and company spent $622,000 to stage his various events.
Individual billings are not available, but Schwarzenegger spokesman Rob Stutzman estimated that a full Arnold event can run anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000 a pop.
It's all paid out of Arnold's political committees, so at least taxpayers are spared the cost. . . .

It's good to be the king.
Bitch bitch bitch.
Oh, that was different.
whine whine whine whine whine...
I have no use for AHnuld myself, but, hell, as long as taxpayers arent't footing the bill for these little shows, who cares? Hack actor becomes a hack politician, but pays for his own silly glitz, so what? Find some real stuff to bitch about.
If he's paying for it himself, who cares what it costs?
So the Chronicle should just shut up about it. They're not having to foot the bill. They just don't like Ahhnold, and will find any reason to bitch and moan about him, even if they have to make one up!
It's all paid out of Arnold's political committees, so at least taxpayers are spared the cost. . . .
So what's the problem?
Politically, it's stupid, because it makes him look like just another elitist politician instead of the "governor for the people" he presents himself to be.
Other than that, he's entitled.
LOL!!! Good for Awnole.
It sounds like a lot of folks are green with envy because they dont have the know how or cash or both to compete. And the LA Slime not invited
Too rich!!! The terminator knows how and has the courage to handle the dredges of society.
Great post. Thank you.
Yeah. Like Ronald Reagan didn't know anything about staging either. Much.
Still, the governor accused of blurring the line between campaign contributions and political favors for supporters is seeking $50,000 sponsorships to help pay for his inaugural festivities.
Governor Davis was the epitome of "lavish."
to handle the dredges of society
"Dredges" = drudges + dregs. Gotta love certain typoes!
That term fits most MSM newsroom droning drones to a Tee.
