Bob Dylan = Joan Baez = Martin Scorcese = all the other subverted and, ultimately, wasted talent of my g-g-generation. Nobody but aging boomers will recall this man in the not too distant future.

How do you see Dylan as wasted talent? Whether or not future generations recognize it (and they probably won't because poetry and music has to be taken in context), I think he is one of the greatest poets ever. I'm thinking particularly of songs like Tambourine Man.

Wrong.

About Dylan, anyway.

Baez had no talent to waste in the first place.

Bob Dylan who is a born again Christan and made a beautiful album about his faith is hardly Joan Biaz. As a matter of fact when he had the Band become a permanent part of his tours and music, Biaz was his most vocal critic. They never made up.

Too bad if true but I rather doubt it. In fact, I've met many a 20-something who listen to Dylan.

Here's a little advice for the Cindy Sheehans out there who wrap themselves in protest and can't understand why their sons and daughters re-enlisted to fight the war on terror:

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'

If you think Dylan is just about the 60's, you might want to listen harder.

Liberal morons, all of them. BTW, I haven't understood a word Bob Dylan has spoken since 1989, but apparently Tom Petty does.

I wouldn't put Dylan in that company. He is probably the last great american poet, very talented (though not a talented voice), and if you check out the first volume of his memoirs you will see that he isn't nearly as subversive as you suspect.

LOL!!!

WOW!!!

You really, really do want to reinforce the left's stereotype of us being stiff, boring, unfeeling and soulless bastards don't you?

Dylan and Scorsese are easily two of the greatest artists of the past 50 years.

---Nobody but aging boomers will recall this man in the not too distant future.---

Bob Dylan is one of the greatest poets of the the twentieth century. Like any great artist he is only partly rooted in his generation and context. He belongs to the ages.

I saw this documentary and developed a STRANGE NEW RESPECT for Bob Dylan. And what did he do that was so horrible? Yeah, he offended the dopey folk song "purists" like that idiot Pete Seeger by playing an electric guitar but is that really so bad? Also, if you SAW the documentary, Dylan did NOT get involved with the leftwing protests. He just played his music and figured it was enough to entertain people.
