Bad Company - What the Media is Not Telling About the "Anti-War" Gathering
Investors Business Daily ^ | 23 September 2005

Posted on 09/24/2005 9:17:17 PM PDT by Lando Lincoln

The media have pushed the idea that the demonstration this weekend at the White House was an "anti-war" gathering. What they didn't say was who was behind it.

No doubt, many fine, sincere people demonstrated this weekend against the U.S. liberation of Iraq. Being Americans, they're certainly entitled to do so.

Maybe they even endorsed the view of those who organized the demonstrations. On Thursday, the organizers ran a two-page ad. On one, they called the Bush administration liars. On the other, they ran the names of all those who have died in Iraq.

But we'd be surprised if those well-meaning folks understood whose banner they were marching under, because the media aren't reporting it. For the record, the lead organizer is ANSWER, which the media routinely refer to as an "antiwar group."

It is nothing of the sort.

In fact, ANSWER is a front group for the Stalinist Workers World Party. And any group that qualifies for that epithet in front of its name deserves special scrutiny, since Josef Stalin was responsible for the murder of as many as 25 million human beings.

Well, you might ask, does it really matter? It sure does.

Imagine for a moment it was a different group that sponsored the demonstration — say, a neo-Nazi group. Think The Washington Post and other media would report that? You bet they would.

You are absolutely right. That is why some right-minded Jews formed the Republican Jewish Coalition. They ARE the alternative to the left for Jews. Every bit as conservative and GOP as GOPAC but with a kosher flavor. Bush just addressed the RJC last week. Its almost hilarious that every single group protesting yesterday was anti-semetic.

It was the one thing they all had in common. And yet boneheads like Lerner still think that buddying up to your executioner is somehow going to grant you a stay of execution. It didn't work with Stalin and it won't work with the Socialists here either. They got no problem just exterminating the Jews in Israel so they can 'take back' the entire middle east.

Even so, does that look like 100,000 people?

Didn't you hear? The vast majority of these freaks are on buses caught in a traffic jam. VRWC No?

I could only watch it in small segments yesterday, it made me physically ill. However, I feel it's absolutely essential that more Americans get an eyeful of the opposition, as what they were spewing, was very telling of the direction they want us to go... and brother, it's not pretty.

I think, despite all the things that went wrong under Carter (inflation, gas lines, Iran, prime rate, et al), title of worst should go to The Condom Kid

That has always left me amazed. We don't like Hitler, because he murdered millions of innocent people Fair enough, I agree completely. People who murder millions of innocents are bad. Stalin does the same exact thing- but in greater numbers, and he's OK with the Left. The only message that I get out of that is that mass-murder and tyranny are only bad if the wrong prople are doing it.

The Left is everything that they claim to abhor.

I want to see an aerial photo of the protesters to see how many were really there.

The fact that there was no such photo on the Washington Post Website this morning leads me to believe that the crowd was nowhere near the 300K that organizers are claiming.

I think the photo is a joke. It looks like a plastic stomach. Look how the blouse lays, and she has a polo shirt underneath. Her navel should protrude out further and where are the stretch marks and veins? She's pulling your chain.

"The left in the U.S. is VERY sympathetic towards people who wish to exterminate every Jew on the face of planet earth."

This is a more recent phenomenon. Many Jews considered Bush 1 and Baker very unfriendly to Jews. Pres Reagan was always a friend to Israel, to Russian Jews.

"Does this guy, and folks like him think they'll be the exceptions?"

The myth that Nazism was a right wing movement alienates many Jews from conservatives. Past history of persecution of Jews in the name of Christianity alienates many Jews from Christian supporters. Many Jews are still fighting the last war.

Also it remains to be seen whether Jews like Rabbi Lerner are able to face reality rather than the utopian fantasy the left peddles. They forget that part of that fantasy includes the basic tenet that the ends justify the means. Stalin is protected on this basis. As are the "insurgents" in Iraq.

Sickening, another mother like Sheehan using her (UNborn!)child for "her" political views. What a disgusting pig mocking her pregnancy by using her unborn child as a propaganda bill board.

Liberals really are mentally disturbed on so many levels I never thought imaginable.

I wonder how many are protesters vs paid "mercenary protesters" and just paid extras using Soros funds. I also wonder how many are counter protesters.

Even so, does that look like 100,000 people?

I've been on the Mall on several 4ths of July when there have, reasonably, been 500,000 people there. The Elipse and South Lawn of the White House are completely packed, as is a good chunk of the grounds of the Washington Monument (in recent years I think they actually have closed the grounds because of concerns related to putting spectators so close to where they are launching the fireworks from). Most of the Mall from the Washington Monument up to the Smithsonian Castle is packed, with somewhat less density between there and the Capitol lawn (which is packed because that's where they do the live National Symphony Orchestra telecast from). The grounds of the Iwo Jima/USMC Memorial are also packed

From that Reuters picture it looks like the Elipse is about 1/2 covered with spillover out onto Constitution Ave. I would put the total attendance at around 60-75,000. Maybe 80,000 tops. Certainly not the 150,000 Chief Ramsey said (the Chief is probably pretty well aware that in the past Liberal groups have sued when DC and Park Service officials don't give them the "right" attendance numbers). The claims that there were 300,000 are just plain laughable.

Couple of other things worth mentioning. First, yesterday was the National Book Festival down on the Mall ... so there were probably a significant number of "curious bystanders" who wandered over to see what was happening.

Second, it's pretty routine at DC colleges for Liberal faculty to assign mandatory attendance at rallies like this on penalty of grade reduction. During the Spring 1991 semester I had three professors assign attendance at the same anti-Desert Storm rally (which had ZERO relevance to the classes I was taking with them). It's a great way of driving up attendance without actually having to convince people to support your cause.

...

If it had zero relevance to your classes then why didn't you speak up or report it to your teachers superior? Why stand there being a willing accomplice to an agenda you didn't believe in? Talk about the herded. In my college years I spoke up to a couple of teachers who tried to insert information that had zero relevance to the class they taught and they changed their tune asap. Evil gains when good people do nothing.

---An A.N.S.W.E.R. spokesperson, speaking on the Brian Lehrer show on WNYC, said that they didn't want a "pro-Israel" speaker at their rally. ---

Many liberal churches, like the ELCA, seem to have the same sort of policy when they line up guest speakers.

imVho, you SHOULD fix the ring. for most of us, it is THE SYMBOL of the MEANING of marriage.

as long as my much-beloved VK lived (& for years afterward) i never took it off.

but then, maybe i'm just a bit "out of touch with modern society".
