UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan expressed concern on Saturday night over the recent military escalations in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement released by Anan's office, he called upon the Palestinian factions to fulfill PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's calls to cease armed activities, as a first step in removing the factions' weapons.
